Yesterday morning my friend Craig invited me to speak to a local networking group of business owners about Snowflake Village.
I talked about how Angela and I started it 16 years ago, what it's become, and some of the people we've been blessed to help along the way.
But the highlight of my morning wasn't anything I said.
It was a 9-year-old little girl named Mira.
Mira is short for Miracle because that's exactly what she is. Her parents weren't supposed to be able to have children.
She came specifically to hear me talk about Snowflake Village, brought her little notebook with her, and while I was speaking, she sat there making me this little rubber-band snowflake.
She gave it to me when I was finished.
I wish I had gotten a picture with her.
This little girl has such a heart for Christ, such a heart for loving people, and just this joy about her that affected not only me, but the room.
And then I learned something that really got me.
At Snowflake Village, we have our Christmas prayer trees where people can leave their prayers.
Mira has prayer rocks outside her dad's business.
How cool is that?
I went there thinking I was going to talk about Snowflake Village, business, community and service.
Instead, a 9-year-old girl reminded me what so much of this is really about.
Sometimes we think it's about building a business, promoting what we do, or growing our network.
And then God puts one person in your path who becomes the most important connection you make all day — and maybe one you'll remember for a very long time.
Yesterday, that person for me was sweet Mira.
And this little snowflake?
I think I'll keep it forever. ❤️ ❄️
