Supporting Charity, One Plate at a Time

One of the things I've always admired about local Lodge fundraisers is that they're about much more than a meal.

Behind every fish fry, pancake breakfast, barbecue, or community dinner is a group of volunteers donating their time to support causes that make a real difference in people's lives.

This Saturday, Steele Creek Lodge No. 737 AF&AM is hosting its Charity Fish Fry, with proceeds benefiting MESH Charities through the North Carolina Masonic Foundation.

Many people may not realize that the North Carolina Masonic Foundation oversees charitable programs that assist children, families, and seniors throughout the state. Through MESH, support is provided to programs such as WhiteStone Senior Living, helping ensure qualified Masonic and Eastern Star seniors receive quality housing and care when they need it most.

Whether you're a Mason or not, these community events are an opportunity to enjoy a great meal while supporting organizations that quietly work to improve the lives of others.

If you're in the Charlotte area, consider stopping by, bringing your family, and supporting a worthy cause.

Sometimes the simplest acts of charity begin with sharing a meal.

Thank you to the Brothers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who makes events like this possible. Your efforts continue a tradition of service that has always been one of the finest examples of Freemasonry in action.

Brethren:
As a follow-up to the plea below, I wanted to update you on the results.
Let me start by saying: I have NEVER been more proud to be a Mason, to be part of the community that is Steele Creek Lodge #737, and of the response we received!
In less than 24 hours, you and our fellow Masons in the 32nd District, as well as our friends from Alpine Lodge (Clover, SC) and Catawba Lodge (Fort Mill, SC) and a few (non-Mason) friends were able to raise almost $6,800 to contribute to he relief of our Steele Creek community neighbors at The Yachtsman who were so devastatingly affected by the fire last week! We were so blessed to attend their Memorial Day gathering and present them with $800 WalMart Gift Cards for each of the (7) families affected, as well as some cash (Thank you, Catawba Lodge!) and VISA gift cards to be used where needed. By my count, we had 9 Brothers representing Steele Creek Lodge, and we had the honor of meeting 2 of the families who lost everything!
The embodiment of all that we stand for as Masons was on full display- THANK YOU ALL WHO WERE ABLE TO RENDER AID TO OUR NEIGHBORS!
I have also had other Brothers reach out to me and say they are sending help as well- so if you do, please let me know. I will be making a follow-up visit to deliver the new/incoming funds next week.

Brethren and Friends:

I humbly come to you as Masons, as Men, and as members of the community to ask your assistance in rendering Charity and Relief to our neighbors. As you probably know, there was a devastating fire at the Yachtsman Condos on Lake Wylie this past Sunday afternoon, where at least 7 families who were full-time residents lost their homes and all their possessions. As members of the Steele Creek community, and as we have several Brothers who live at The Yachtsman as ACTUAL NEIGHBORS and friends to those affected, it is right that we give help where we can.
They are having their Memorial Day gathering tomorrow at their pool, where they will be collecting donations for those families. Our Lodge By-laws and The Code do not allow me to disperse any funds to a non-Brother without having consent of the Lodge, which we cannot do until our next Stated Communication. With that as the background, I challenge each of us to donate to the relief of these neighbors as much as you can and feel led to do (without injury to yourself or family). I would like to present the donations in the form of WalMart gift cards (for maximum utility) TOMORROW at their gathering.
Can YOU help us gather at least $700 to help these 7 families? Even more would be awesome! If you can help, please send any donations to me today (before 10 am tomorrow) and I will purchase the gift cards and deliver them tomorrow on behalf of the Lodge Brethren, and any members of the District who may wish to donate as well. District 32 Pride on Full Display! 🛡️🤝

What an incredible evening at Long Creek Lodge #205 for the Official Visit of Most Worshipful Grand Master Steve Norris. The energy in the room was electric, and the brotherhood was truly second to none!

A massive thank you to all the brethren who traveled from across our great district to show their support. I am incredibly proud of the turnout from District 32—you all proved once again why our district is so special.
