Elevated Access

Elevated Access We are a volunteer pilot network flying people in private aircraft at no cost to access healthcare. Please contact us about partnership opportunities.

We believe in bodily autonomy and the freedom to make private health care decisions without government intervention. As not everyone can receive the care they need in their communities, we started Elevated Access to make healthcare more accessible and equitable. Elevated Access anonymously transports patients, providers, and support staff where they need to go. Our volunteer pilots are fully vette

d and generously donate their time, skills, and aircraft. We can fly into 3000 airports around the country, and 90% of the US population lives within a thirty-minute drive of these regional airports. We only accept passenger referrals from organizations such as practical support organizations, funders, and healthcare providers. We are actively recruiting volunteer pilots from across the country who wish to make meaningful differences in people’s lives. Patients flown by our pilots often face extreme barriers to accessing healthcare including lack of funds, no time off work, inadequate transport, unavailable childcare, and a bevy of hostile laws restricting access to care. Pilots tell us that it can be a highly rewarding, transformative experience to fly for Elevated Access. Contact us today to start the application process. We believe that access to healthcare should be just plane simple!

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🎉🎉🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

Who’s excited to get the party started?!

Part of our celebration of the month will again include content from many of the staff, sharing their favorite parts of Pride, LGBTQIA+ history, and more! Reproductive justice is for people living as themselves, and Pride is a fantastic display of that value.

We have a booth at one of the biggest aviation events of the year, the Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo! We’ll be busy spreading the word about reproductive justice and gathering volunteer pilots to support the cause. If you’re there, come say hello to us in Exhibitor Hangar B!

We’ve flown our passengers over 2 million miles in support of access to abortion and gender-affirming care. We wish healthcare was more accessible, but we’re glad we can help whenever it’s not.

We’re celebrating Black history month by calling attention to Black aviation professionals. The Challenger Air Pilots Association started in Chicago in 1924 with powerhouse Black aviators like Cornelius Coffey, Johnny Robinson, and Willa Brown. Members of the club taught integrated classes for mechanics and pilots alike.

If you’d like to learn more about these aviation icons, the book American Wings by Sherri L. Smth and Elizabeth Wein tells stories of their efforts.

(We’re also really excited to attend the annual conference in Chicago this summer for their 50th anniversary. It seems fitting for Chicago to host this anniversary event.)

What we’ve seen the last few weeks is an escalation but not a new discovery. We all live within structures of oppression which includes white supremacy, patriarchy, and unfettered capitalism. When people work to oppose and deconstruct those systems, those systems fight back, even against the people who have benefited from them the most. It’s as old as America with the rise of Trump being perhaps the greatest symptom.

But there’s hope. More and more people are speaking up, stepping up. More and more people see what’s happening and say this isn’t right. There is power when we step forward together. There is power when one person stepping forward makes space for another person to rest. Yesterday was best to take action, today is next best.

Today we might feel the injustice in American society more than we did yesterday. Even the things that do not affect us directly have an effect on us. Dr. King knew this, and it means we all have work to do for a more just society.

Everything is connected: abortion rights, trans rights, birth justice, racism, immigration, income inequality, housing, food insecurity, and more. Each of us can do something today for a better society.

We’ve been taking a rest after a busy year helping folks access abortion and gender-affirming care, and we’re expecting to be even busier in 2026 when we return Monday. We’ve brought our creativity and persistence to the movement, and we’re bringing even more of the same to our efforts this year.

Still walkin’, still talkin,’ still flyin’.
