Metro North Rotary brings together great people for meaningful service, relevant and engaging programs, and lively social connections.

We balance purpose, friendship, and community impact. We are the young and fun Rotary club! Our club began in 2003 and meets weekly on the Northeast side of Cedar Rapids. Service opportunities include the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor and Metro High School, plus many other local projects, and international service work!

Just one week left to apply for the fall cycle of the Dave Carlson Grant! Applications close October 31.

The Dave Carlson Grant supports local youth serving nonprofits, with a special focus on organizations supporting underserved youth. We also support programs that provide local youth with opportunities to develop leadership skills and make a difference in their communities.

If you’re involved with a youth serving nonprofit, we encourage you to apply! And if you know a nonprofit that could benefit from this grant, please share this opportunity with them.

Today we welcomed entrepreneur Robert De Corah of Ajax Media, who also owns Ellis House and is preparing to launch his newest venture, Rivet Rentals, at the end of November!

Robert shared his journey to starting his own media company and how he eventually moved his studio to Ellis House, which serves as his workspace by day and a community event venue hosting events like Toddler Rave and Home by 9.

You can check out Ellis House for yourself tomorrow! Join them for their grand opening from 6 to 8 p.m.

🌎 This Saturday! Join local Rotary clubs for the World’s Largest Polio Walk!

This Saturday is World Polio Day and local Rotarians, family, friends and community members will be walking through New Bo and Czech Village to support Rotary’s global effort to eradicate polio.

Rotary has been fighting to end polio for more than 35 years. Since 1985, polio cases have decreased by more than 99%, and Rotary and its partners have helped immunize more than 3 billion children worldwide.

Metro North Rotarians mixed things up today with some fun social time at Lucky’s on 16th! The weather may have foiled our plans for a walking tour of Czech Village, but we still met up at Lucky’s, collected diapers for YPN and enjoyed drinks and appetizers together.

Good company, community service, and a little time to connect. That’s Rotary! 💙🧷

Yesterday, Metro North Rotary had the pleasure of hearing from our very own Michelle Bell! 🌎

Michelle has been a Rotarian for many years and serves as District Chair of the Rotary Foundation for Rotary District 5970, making her the perfect person to help us better understand the impact of giving to the Rotary Foundation.

She shared where those dollars go, the difference they make in communities around the world through Rotary's 7 Pillars and how our Club can potentially bring funding back to our own community through the district grant program. 💙💛

It's a great reminder that when we give through Rotary, we're not just supporting good work around the world. We're also creating opportunities to make a difference right here at home!

Who remembers playing sports at the Y or going to Camp Wapsie as a kid? 🙋‍♀️

We had another great Metro North Rotary meeting today as Cari McCoy from the Cedar Rapids/Marion Area YMCA joined us. Cari gave us a little background on the Y and shared all of the ways they serve our community and make an impact through their three Cedar Rapids and Marion locations, along with Camp Wapsie.

We were also joined by Megan Johnson and Addy Whipple from YPN. They shared with us about YPN’s Operation Diaper Drive, a month long effort to stock the Eastern Iowa Diaper Bank and help provide diapers for local families. Check out their page for more details.

Lots of great information today and a good reminder of just how many ways local organizations are making a difference in our community! 💙
