Learn, Serve and Savor night! On February 25, 2026 our hands-on service project involved assembling boxes of dishes for individuals transitioning out of homelessness and into housing. Central Furniture Rescue helps transform a place to live into a home. Afterwards, we “savored” some Cedar Rapids traditional Leonardo's Pizza.

An evening of engagement, education, and exploration! We toured Empowering Excellence Charter School (thanks to Becky Kathryn DeWald for arranging the tour) and followed it up with a lively dinner and great conversation at Applebee’s.

We were also inspired by District Governor Ward Budweg, who encouraged us in our work as volunteers and reminded us of the impact we can make together.

Extra bonus of being part of this club: giving back to our community. The night also served as a fundraiser at Applebee’s, with 25% of all purchases supporting Mission of Hope.

Fellowship, learning, and service—all in one evening. 💙🍎

Feels so good to see a program our club and specifically Gene Johnston started so many years ago continue to flourish! Gene, thanks for creating and nurturing such an impactful project and kudos to Lisbon - Mt Vernon Ambulance Service for carrying on its legacy 💙💛

📣 New Year, New Skill! 🚑🖐️
Kick off 2026 by learning how to save a life! Join the Lisbon-Mt. Vernon Ambulance Service for our Community CPR & Stop the Bleed class — practical, hands-on training for everyday people who want to be prepared when seconds matter.

✨ What You’ll Learn:
• Hands-on CPR skills for adults
• How to recognize and respond to sudden cardiac arrest
• Stop the Bleed techniques to control life-threatening bleeding before help arrives

🩺 Why This Matters:
• Nearly 70% of cardiac arrests happen at home, most often witnessed by family members or friends — not healthcare professionals. Knowing CPR can double or even triple survival.
• Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death from trauma, and a person can bleed to death in as little as 5 minutes. Immediate action by bystanders saves lives.

📍 Location: Thomas Commons, Mt. Vernon, IA 52314
🎟️ Register Here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/2026-community-cpr

✅ Free to attend

➕ Optional AHA Heartsaver CPR certification available for $25

Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, coach, teacher, or community member — this class gives you the confidence and skills to help someone you love before EMS arrives. 💛💙
