Nearly time for our next meeting! Saturday, August 29th, at The Carthage Forge. As per usual, come for the demonstration, stay to hang out with other local blacksmiths. All levels welcome - absolute beginners and old-timers and everyone in between.

The next event on the SBG calendar is the 2nd Quarter NCABANA meeting: Saturday 6/20, at 10am, held at The Carthage Forge.

Details:
-The Carthage Forge is located in Moore County: 211 Martin St, Carthage NC 28327.
-Demonstration by Matt King of The Carthage Forge.
-There will be space for tailgate sales, please try to arrive on time if you plan to sell.
- There will be some samples and literature from Sculpt Nouveau (metal finishes company) available.
- BBQ lunch will be provided free of charge.
- There will be a “Blacksmith Challenge” station. This meeting's challenge will be a 2 1/2” nail “by eye” no measuring allowed, no outside tools with known measurements. More details on this at the event.
-As usual we will have an Iron In The Hat drawing. Please bring your items to donate, and buy plenty of tickets to win something you didn't know you needed.
- Bringing your own chairs is encouraged, there will be some seating available.

Fun day in Carthage!

Don’t forget to say hi to SBG member John McLaughlin at his Celtic Ranger Forge booth by the courthouse.

Carthage’s annual Buggy Festival is happening Saturday! Plenty to see and do. I’ll be at the forge most of the day; drop in and say hi.

It was all hands on deck to make an 18th century handled trivet at today’s meeting. Experienced and new smiths alike got involved and practiced traditional blacksmithing techniques. Swipe to see the finished product and lucky winner Dick Snow.

Next meeting will be the Q2 NCABANA meeting, June 20th.
