Meet Eileen Ybarra, Chair of the Circular Indiana Associate Board, and a marketing professional at White Hat Industrial.

Eileen's passion for sustainability is rooted in her work, where her company significantly reduces roofing project waste nationwide and redefines what commercial roofing can and should look like. Eileen primarily works remotely and limits work travel to reduce her carbon footprint. At home, she and her husband drive a fully electric truck that can power their entire home for three days, and her naturally creative spirit means she is always finding new ways to repurpose and reuse.

Eileen believes a more circular economy is critical for the now and the future. With cleaner environments and more creative ways to reduce and reuse, anything is possible.

We are excited to have Eileen's creativity and passion on the Circular Indiana Associate Board!

"A Circular Economy shifts how we think about waste."

Instead of the traditional take-make-dispose model, a circular economy keeps materials and products in use for as long as possible. Through reuse, repair, refurbishment, and recycling, waste is removed by design.

Think of it like a loop, not a line. Products are made to last, get repaired instead of replaced, and materials get a second (or third, or tenth) life instead of ending up in a landfill.

That's a Circular Economy. That's what we're working towards at Circular Indiana, because we know less waste can help build a stronger, more innovative economy in Indiana.

Did you know honeybees are one of the best examples of a circular system in nature? 🐝

Today is National Honey Bee Day, a reminder that healthy ecosystems and healthy economies have a lot in common. Bees give back everything they take, creating abundance without waste.

At Circular Indiana, that's exactly the kind of future we're working toward: systems that regenerate rather than deplete.

Meet Vicki Bohlsen, a Communications Consultant and two-year member of the Circular Indiana board.

Professionally, Vicki has kept a keen eye on circularity for years, with one of her most meaningful adjustments being the decision to go fully remote in order to reduce her carbon footprint. At home, she puts that commitment into action through recycling, upcycling, reselling, downsizing, donating, composting, collecting rainwater, and being intentional about what she purchases.

Vicki also believes that education is key to moving the circular economy forward. As she puts it, knowing what we can do as individuals to contribute matters, because it is going to take everyone collectively doing all that they can and encouraging others to do the same.

We are grateful for Vicki's passion and perspective as part of the Circular Indiana board!
