๐ŸƒA huge thank you to the volunteers from IDEXX who rolled up their sleeves with us at Fort Williams Park!

Together, we tackled hands-on stewardship across several of our project areas, clearing invasive plants, supporting native plantings, and helping these coastal landscapes thrive for the wildlife, pollinators, and people who love the park.

Days like this remind us that caring for the park is truly a community effort. To everyone who gave their time and energy: thank you for being a Friend and making a difference. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒ Happy World Environment Day!
Here at Fort Williams Park, every day is a chance to care for the place we love โ€” and today we're celebrating the quiet, hands-in-the-soil work that keeps this coastline thriving. ๐ŸŒฑ

From removing invasive species to planting native trees, shrubs, and pollinator-friendly gardens, our work supports the birds, bees, and butterflies that call the park homeโ€”and helps protect our shoreline for the generations who'll walk these trails after us.

Want to be part of it? You can:
๐ŸŒฟ Join a volunteer workday
๐ŸŒŠ Take a litter-free walk along the Cliff Walk
๐Ÿ’š Support native plantings across the Park
๐ŸŒณ Help match a grant supporting native plantings at the new children's play area

Small actions, shared by many, add up to stewarding our beautiful Fort Williams Park. Thank you for loving this place alongside us.

๐ŸŒฟ Thank you, Diversified USA ๐ŸŒฟ
On May 21, a team of ~18 volunteers from Diversified rolled up their sleeves at Fort Williams Parkโ€”weeding, mulching, and helping our native plantings [near Portland Head Light] thrive. In just under three hours, they made a real, visible difference for the Park we all love.

Mornings like this are stewardship in action: hands in the soil, the lighthouse in the background, and a shared commitment to keeping this coastal treasure healthy for everyone who visits.

We're so grateful to the Diversified crew (and their four-legged helper! ๐Ÿพ) for giving their time and energy. Thank you for being Friends of the Park! SWIPE โžก๏ธ to see the doggo.

Interested in bringing your team out for a corporate volunteer day? We'd love to host youโ€”send us a message. ๐Ÿ’š

Your gift matters today more than ever.

Every contribution made helps preserve not only the landscapes and habitats that make Fort Williams Park extraordinary but also the experiences, memories, and moments that make it beloved.

Fort Williams is iconic Maine.

From the sweeping views of Portland Head Light to the cliffside trails, native plants, open lawns, and story-rich historic batteries, this Park welcomes more than a million visitors each yearโ€”and each one finds something meaningful here.

Itโ€™s a place to:
๐ŸŒฟ walk among wildflowers
๐ŸŒ… watch the sunrise spill across the ocean
๐Ÿ‘ฃ hike the cliffs and breathe deeply
๐Ÿ’ฌ gather with friends, family, and community
๐Ÿฅ play, picnic, explore, or simply rest
๐ŸŒณ connect with nature
๐ŸŽ‰ celebrate milestones and special occasions
๐Ÿ… watch youth sports
๐ŸŽพ meet for pickleball
๐Ÿพ enjoy time with dogs and loved ones
โœจ and feel part of something larger

These are the experiences your support helps sustain.

Caring for this extraordinary place takes year-round effortโ€”and donor support powers that work.

Your gift and volunteering help us:
๐ŸŒฟ restore native habitats and support biodiversity
๐ŸŒฟ remove invasive species and strengthen ecological resilience
๐ŸŒฟ steward priority restoration sites from the Parkโ€™s Master Plan
๐ŸŒฟ care for high-traffic trails and gathering spaces
๐ŸŒฟ maintain historic landscapes
๐ŸŒฟ support hands-on ecological education
๐ŸŒฟ keep Fort Williams Park accessible for all

๐ŸŒŽ Happy Earth Day Week from all of us at Friends of Fort Williams Park.

During a time when the world pauses to appreciate the natural places that restore us, weโ€™re grateful for this oneโ€”90 acres of coastal parkland, woodland habitat, and living history right here in our beloved Cape Elizabeth.

Our Ecology Project team has been hard at work this season: removing invasive species, restoring native plantings, and building habitat corridors that benefit birds, pollinators, and people alike. This is the quiet, essential work that keeps Fort Williams healthy for generations to come.

If this park has given you moments of peace, wonder, or joy, today is a beautiful opportunity to give something back. ๐Ÿ’š
