🍃A huge thank you to the volunteers from IDEXX who rolled up their sleeves with us at Fort Williams Park!

Together, we tackled hands-on stewardship across several of our project areas, clearing invasive plants, supporting native plantings, and helping these coastal landscapes thrive for the wildlife, pollinators, and people who love the park.

Days like this remind us that caring for the park is truly a community effort. To everyone who gave their time and energy: thank you for being a Friend and making a difference. 💚

Here at Fort Williams Park, every day is a chance to care for the place we love — and today we're celebrating the quiet, hands-in-the-soil work that keeps this coastline thriving. 🌱

🌿 Thank you, Diversified USA 🌿
On May 21, a team of ~18 volunteers from Diversified rolled up their sleeves at Fort Williams Park—weeding, mulching, and helping our native plantings [near Portland Head Light] thrive. In just under three hours, they made a real, visible difference for the Park we all love.

Mornings like this are stewardship in action: hands in the soil, the lighthouse in the background, and a shared commitment to keeping this coastal treasure healthy for everyone who visits.

Wattle, anyone? Join us for our first volunteer work party of the season, this Saturday, May 2, 9-11:00AM in the Children's Garden. We'll get the garden ready for spring, create wattle fencing, and enjoy some light refreshments. Come dressed for gardening with close-toed shoes and work gloves. 🌎 Happy Earth Day Week from all of us at Friends of Fort Williams Park.

During a time when the world pauses to appreciate the natural places that restore us, we’re grateful for this one—90 acres of coastal parkland, woodland habitat, and living history right here in our beloved Cape Elizabeth.

Our Ecology Project team has been hard at work this season: removing invasive species, restoring native plantings, and building habitat corridors that benefit birds, pollinators, and people alike. This is the quiet, essential work that keeps Fort Williams healthy for generations to come.
