Thank you to our friends at APCAW and the Forest Stewards Guild for inviting us to a great couple of days learning all about collecting seeds from ash trees…

Here in Maine, we are in a *very* special window: 75% of our ash trees are not yet impacted by Emerald Ash Borer - but we have less than two decades before all ash in the state is hit. Now is the time to collect seeds!!

If you want to join a collection day, or if you have ash trees on your land* that volunteers could collect from - email us at info at wildseedproject dot net, and we will connect you with the right resources!

Evergreen Woods is right in the middle of the city but full of life. Acquainting ourselves with native plants in all seasons is the best way to build plant ID skills, and invites us into deeper relationship with the natural environments we call home.

Wild strawberry seeds, drying in our seed room. They make such lovely patterns! It smells like fruit roll ups in here!!

We pick the fruits, smoosh across cardboard, and let dry. Then carefully scrape off the seeds, and run them through a fine mesh sieve to clean off any remaining flecks of fruit.
