For more than a century, the Cape Charles Volunteer Fire Company has been a proud part of our community, answering the call when our neighbors need us most.

As we look back through our history, we are reminded that our legacy extends far beyond fighting fires. It is a history of dedication, tradition, community pride, and generations of volunteers who have served Cape Charles.

🥁 A Moment in History – 1936

In 1936, the Cape Charles Volunteer Fire Company's Drum and Bugle Corps took top honors at the State Firemen's Convention parade in Norfolk, Virginia!

The historic photograph captures the award-winning corps marching down Granby Street in Norfolk, representing our small Eastern Shore community on a statewide stage.

🔥 The equipment has changed. The fire service has evolved. But our commitment to protecting Cape Charles and the surrounding communities remains the same.

Today we hosted the littles from Cape Charles Christian School to tour the firehouse and show them equipment off our trucks. We look forward to this event every year and the questions that these kids ask always make me excited for the potential of future firefighters!!

🚒 BIG NEWS! 🚒
We want to extend a huge Thank You to the Town of Cape Charles for generously funding the purchase of our brand-new Bauer SCBA Bottle Fill Station!
This new system is a major upgrade, replacing our previous unit which was over 20 years old.
This critical piece of equipment allows us to safely and quickly refill the air tanks our firefighters rely on to breathe during structure fires and emergency rescues. By replacing our outdated SCBA fill station , Cape Charles is directly investing in the safety of our volunteer firefighters and the entire community we protect.
We are incredibly grateful for the town's continued support and partnership.

🇺🇸 25 Years Later: We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On this solemn day, we pause to honor the 2,977 precious lives lost, including the heroic 343 firefighters of the FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to save others. We also remember the police officers, EMS personnel, civilian rescue workers, and military members whose bravery and selflessness defined humanity in our darkest hour.

🚒 Thank You, Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel! 🚒

The Cape Charles Volunteer Fire Company would like to sincerely thank the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel for its generous donation to our fire company. Your continued support helps us maintain the equipment, training, and resources needed to serve our community.

Many people may not realize that CCVFC’s first-due response district includes the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel from the Eastern Shore entrance to the first tunnel. We are also a second-due fire company for the entire CBBT and have assisted Virginia Beach emergency crews on several incidents over the years.

We greatly appreciate the CBBT recognizing the important role our volunteers play in protecting motorists, employees, and emergency personnel along this critical transportation corridor.

Thank you for supporting the Cape Charles Volunteer Fire Company and helping us continue our mission of protecting lives and property!
