Congratulations to the Escambia County 4-H Meat Judging Team for placing 8th in the nation at the National 4-H Meat Judging Contest at the University of Nebraska!

A big thank you to Dr. Leslie Frenzel and the American Meat Science Association, Nebraska Beef in Omaha, and Dr. Bo Orcia at UNL for hosting 2 great contests. Thank you also to Dr. Loni Lucherk at West Texas A&M University for hosting us at a luncheon and for all the swag.

Join us in wishing the BEST of LUCK to the team from Escambia County 4-H, representing Florida in the 2026 National 4-H Meats Judging Contest today! 🥩
Team members include, from state roster, Charli McClendon, Tucker Padgett, AT Bridgers and Andrew Wiggins, coached by Brian Estevez, 4-H Extension agent.

The team qualified for national competition by placing first in the senior division at the 2026 Florida 4-H State Meats Judging Contest in April 2026.

Hosted by Nebraska Animal Science in Lincoln, Nebraska, this contest challenges youth to identify and evaluate over 100 retail cuts, wholesale cuts and carcasses of beef, pork and lamb through identification, placings and reasons.

Good luck!
Interested in competing in this event this season? The state-level competition in April is open to one team of intermediate and one team of senior youth from each county, no pre-qualification required.

Join Escambia County 4-H October 4-10, 2026 as we celebrate National 4-H Week! National 4-H Week brings together 6 million youth, 3,300+ Extension educators, 500,000
volunteers, and 35 million alumni to celebrate the incredible impact of 4-H and preparing young people to be Beyond Ready for life and career.

You can join us this week on Monday as we Go Green and again on Thankful Thursday as we recognize those that have made a positive impact through 4-H.
