As we picked mulberries and packed up our site, we had a visitor of such grand delight. Having flown high above the river and lake, she joined us as part of another new memory to make! She rested awhile and we enjoyed her strong gaze - and the way that she perched in the morning's soft haze.

Her wings folded close, a majestic display,
A gift from the mountain at the close of our stay.

A bald eagle's blessing to crown our last day.

Cold Mountain had given us music and more β€”
A wild, soaring spirit we'd never ignore.
We'll carry her gaze like a song in our chest,
A reminder of the love and community resounding throughout the fest!!

We'll hold all these memories close and dear. See you again at 'round this time next year!

We cannot wait to share History & Ecology tours with you this weekend at and several days a week starting this summer!

Members of our team and volunteers have been working little by little to make this Riverwalk Trail and other paths on campus a lot more navigable.

Post-storm cleanup is still a big part of our day to day lives here at the lake...and we also have a broad vision as we enhance nature’s classroom for optimal multigenerational experiences across all of our programs and ministries as we grow!

Stay tuned for more information on History & Ecology tours with Kristen Burns, Environmental Education Coordinator - and, in the meantime, happy trails to you!

It was AMAZiNG to hear the celebratory anglers...gills and bass...and to have the Lake Logan Fire Chief charting our waters...and to have our Junior Appalachian Musician (JAM) stage delivered for Cold Mountain Music at Lake Logan ...and to be paddling while people, dogs, birds and butterflies πŸ¦‹ played lakeside today away from the crowds. Some sprinkles, but all in all a wonderful day to explore with gladness in our πŸ’•!

May today be a day we choose to remember, honoring lives lost for our freedoms.

🐝 Happy World Bee Day from Lake Logan!

As we have been buzzing around campus preparing for Cold Mountain Music Festival 2026 and Camp Henry, while hosting Outdoor School groups and other guests, we got reminded by the land this morning to remember the little things!

Before I could go looking for bees for their photographic debut today (which I was also looking forward to), this little one landed on my shoulder (yip!)...and Kristen (our Environmental Education Coordinator) gently removed him β€” unhurried, unbothered, perfectly at home. That's Lake Logan for you. A place of bee-loved community. It was so small that I wasn't even sure it was a bee at first!!

The rhododendron and mountain laurel blooming on ridgelines, coneflowers, the bee balm in the meadows and along the river's edge β€” none of it happens without pollinators.

Wildflowers bloom here from spring through fall, and it's the bees that make that possible. The same work that opens a trillium feeds the black bears, wild turkeys, and songbirds that share these trails. Salamanders β€” some found nowhere else on earth β€” depend on the health of this forest ecosystem too.

On World Bee Day, we celebrate the quiet force behind all of it. Every bloom on our campus. Every bite at our table. Made possible by the tireless work of bees.

Today we honor them, and the wild, bee-loved land that holds us all. πŸ’›
