Kfar Yeladim David

Kfar Yeladim David A home for Israel's endangered children: orphans and/ or victims of abuse and neglect.

Kfar Yeladim David was founded in 1994 in Jerusalem by Rabbi Yechiel Fishel Weingarten and his son Yehoshua. Caring for orphans and children in distress is a family tradition that goes back three generations in the Weingarten family. In 1901, Yehoshua's great-grandfather, Rabbi David Weingarten, took in many homeless orphans into his tiny 2 room Jerusalem apartment, which then became the first orp

hanage home in Jerusalem for girls. Now we have grown to become an organzation with many second homes and residential facilities . Which now brings us to Kfar Yeladim David, the ultimate haven and rehabilitative facility to meet the unique needs of the disadvantaged children of our generation. Starting in 1994 with just one rented apartment, and progressively renting additional facilities. Then, in 2001, Kfar Yeladim David's bright, new, spacious and warm headquarters in Ramat Shlomo opened its doors. Kfar Yeladim David is named after David Weingarten, the patriarch of the Weingarten family and after King David, whose name is forever associated with the city of Jerusalem.

Creativity gives children more than just something beautiful to make.
It gives confidence, expression, calmness, and joy.
Our recent art activity was filled with smiles, focus, and meaningful moments the girls will carry with them long after the crafts were finished 🌸

Now more than ever, showing up for one another matters.
Support doesn’t always have to be big sometimes it’s simply being there, giving what you can, and choosing kindness.
Together, we can make a real difference.

Shavuot is a time of light, reflection, and quiet joy.
A moment to gather, to give thanks, and to appreciate the simple beauty around us even in the smallest details.
At KYD, we hold onto these moments. Because light isn’t just something we celebrate it’s something we try to bring into every child’s life, every single day.

Even in uncertain times, showing care can change everything.
A small act can create a sense of safety, warmth, and light that stays with a child long after the moment passes.
It’s the little things that truly make the difference.

Jerusalem is more than a place it’s history, strength, and unity woven together.
59 years later, we continue to carry its story forward, holding onto what connects us and what makes us stronger.
