More than $127 MILLION in grants meant to support Black farmers has been canceled and now organizations across the country are fighting back in court.
Over two dozen groups have filed a lawsuit against the USDA, alleging the agency unlawfully revoked funding that was intended to help Black farmers access land, capital, equipment, and new market opportunities.
For generations, Black farmers have faced barriers to land ownership, loans, and federal support. Today, Black-owned farms make up less than 2% of U.S. farming operations.
