PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: We have not given permission to any candidate or their staff/volunteers to place political signs on any of our nature preserves. We hold land for the public trust and are a non-political, non-profit organization and take this designation very seriously. We have not, and will not, endorse candidates and we would appreciate everyone honoring that by not placing any signage on our protected properties, even in the road easement. These signs on our Red Cedar Run NP in Fowlerville were removed and now belong to us. (We appreciate the individual who notified us of these having been placed there. We encourage everyone to let us know if they find political signs on any of our properties throughout the County.)

If the property protected is a conservation easement, that is privately held property and the owner does have the right to place signs if they so choose.

If we continue to have issues with sign postings on our nature preserves, we will reach out to candidates directly, asking them to inform their supporters to not do this. Open landscape is not an invitation for a sign free-for-all.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us keep our preserves protected for the public trust.

We want to welcome these two as seasonal stewardship techs this summer! Connor has a degree in Environmental Studies & Sustainability and is the Stewardship Lead, helping oversee workdays. Ireland also has a degree in Environmental Studies & Sustainability and has extensive invasive species removal experience. We really appreciate having them with us to tackle ongoing stewardship work. Thank you!

We are digging through our photo and historical archives for our big meeting coming up!

JOIN US for our annual meeting on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 6:30pm at the Brighton District Library, 100 Library Drive, Brighton. We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary with historical reminiscing, old photos, progress made, and probably a few laughs. If the weather holds out, we'll walk the trails of the Charles & Albert Parker Families NP.

Along with the general public, we invite all who have been part of this group in one way or another to attend the meeting - served as a board member, performed stewardship work, volunteered with fundraising or in another capacity, donated funds, or protected your land. We want to see you there!

For planning purposes, please RSVP to [email protected] or leave a voice message at 810-229-3290.
