We were very happy to have an elementary LEGO robotics team visit the Charles & Albert Parker Families Nature Preserve in Brighton during our Coffee & Trails event recently. Their theme for this season is biodiversity and their coach wanted to have them walk the nature preserve and talk to a few of the Conservancy folks about ecosystems and how invasive species can disrupt biodiversity. We look forward to continuing to support them in their problem-solving quest!

We are so happy to announce that another 10 acres has been permanently preserved with a conservation easement! Lots of gratitude for the donated gift from long-time LLC members, former board members, and volunteers, Lori and Billy Cowan, through their "Keebin Cowan Conservation Easement" in Unadilla Township. It's a lovely place with a hardwood swamp and an upland of diverse native trees like oaks and black cherries - some so big they aren't fully huggable. I tried. 🙂

Additional good news: their property, which includes a single family home, will be put on the market soon. No details yet but if you or someone you know has always wanted to live in protected nature, this could be the opportunity. Feel free to email us at [email protected] and we will be glad to put you on the "interested" list for when more information becomes available.

Thank you to all the people who came out on Saturday to the Coffee & Trails event at the Charles & Albert Parker Families NP in Brighton. We were glad to see lots of kids get outdoors and explore the preserve by doing a nature bingo. Thank you to the Conservancy representatives that hosted the public and led walks - Cara, Abby, Chris, Connor, and Ireland. You are appreciated!

Join us on this beautiful Saturday at the Charles and Albert Parker Families Nature Preserve in Brighton for a nice trail walk, coffee, and pastries. You can also participate in our nature bingo. Fun for the whole family! Come anytime between 10am and noon. Park at the Brighton District Library and walk down the sidewalk on Orndorf Drive to the trailhead. All are welcome!

Hey, who’s been eating the Amanita? This genus of fungi with 600 species is responsible for the most poisonings and deaths of all mushrooms. It also has many members that are actually consumable, plus a lot of species of unknown edibility. Sounds risky! 🍄
