PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: We have not given permission to any candidate or their staff/volunteers to place political signs on any of our nature preserves. We hold land for the public trust and are a non-political, non-profit organization and take this designation very seriously. We have not, and will not, endorse candidates and we would appreciate everyone honoring that by not placing any signage on our protected properties, even in the road easement. These signs on our Red Cedar Run NP in Fowlerville were removed and now belong to us. (We appreciate the individual who notified us of these having been placed there. We encourage everyone to let us know if they find political signs on any of our properties throughout the County.)
If the property protected is a conservation easement, that is privately held property and the owner does have the right to place signs if they so choose.
If we continue to have issues with sign postings on our nature preserves, we will reach out to candidates directly, asking them to inform their supporters to not do this. Open landscape is not an invitation for a sign free-for-all.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us keep our preserves protected for the public trust.
