What a sweet card from a volunteer who is allowing us to help feed her neighbors. Managing this can be hard, and sometimes I consider shutting it down, to be honest. But our volunteers and families fill my heart!

You know, a few years ago, I tasked the Torch board with a request for someone to consistently set up Dine to Donate events with local restaurants. It is a task that requires a lot of organization and persistence. Beth stepped up and has been doing an amazing job setting up these events MONTHLY!

While we were talking about doing the events, I was thinking about how my sister used to be part of a dinner club. They actually cooked, but since I don't like to cook, I thought it might be a fun way to connect with other like-minded folks AND support the Torch at the same time! The next dinner club is Tuesday evening, July 21 at Fowlerville Farms! I think it would be fun to fill the place that day!

Good Morning! Yesterday was grocery day around here. It can be tricky to run a nonprofit organization with 100% volunteer efforts. We all have to stay motivated and committed. We give up our weekdays, weekends, and evenings sometimes to keep things moving forward. Volunteers watch for sales, so we can supplement the groceries we get, and then shop those sales. A mom told me, “Food is so expensive. Thank you for doing this. Fruit goes really fast at my house, and I don’t let my kids bored-eat. Groceries are expensive. So, thank you.” Which is really a big thank you to every volunteer in this Torch Family.

I am particularly happy that we were able to share hundreds of pounds of fresh vegetables with our people today, on National Eat Your Vegetables Day! Fresh produce and meat are two foods that are quite expensive. So thankful for our Trader Joe's partnership, and our precious volunteers who keep the groceries moving through both here and in California!

National Eat Your Vegetables Day on June 17 falls in the middle of National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month. Today's celebration is one more opportunity to remind everyone to continue with this part of a healthy diet.

Good Morning - this Wednesday is going to be what we make it. I know it can be incredibly difficult to keep a positive outlook, especially when we live in a world that somehow seems to thrive on negativity. Torch Family, we can become a force for positivity and push back the negatives in this world! Smile more! Laugh at absurdities! Be gentle with other humans, who are likely just reacting to the negative pressures around us! I have pulled myself out of many dark places, but NEVER have I done it alone.

Let's become the reason people have hope.
