Did you know that the NJSOC is a leader in climate change education? Not just in our home state…. nationally!

Last week, our Director of Education, Tanya Sulikowski, presented at the Rutgers Climate Change Research Symposium with Dr. Roberta Hunter from NJ Audubon and Drs. Brielle Kociolek and Eddie Cohen from Rutgers University.

Their presentation, “Scaling Climate Change Education Through Collaboration: Evaluating the Impact of Learning Collaboratives on K-12 Classrooms” celebrated the achievements of the NJSOC and other organizations from around New Jersey in the realm of climate change education.

Tanya also enjoyed the opportunity to thank Senator Smith for his continued support in advocating for funding for the NJSOC.

Help us maintain our vital role in this new educational movement.

We had the pleasure of working with undergraduate students from Ramapo College of New Jersey to have them develop an in-depth business plan for the NJ School of Conservation.

Students, Jacqueline McGarry, Stefanie Maneri, Nicholas Robinson, and George Charbonneau, spent a full semester to develop the business plan for NJSOC, during a hands-on independent study, which allowed us to further develop a collaborative partnership with Ramapo College of New Jersey, their professors, and their students.

Read about the development of the Business Plan, and our partnership with Ramapo College here:

June 10, 2026 by Lauren Ferguson Comprehensive business plans can be costly. So when leaders of the New Jersey School of Conservation realized the education center in Sussex County could benefit from an in-depth business plan, they tapped into a resource they already had: a dynamic partnership with....

Join the New Jersey School of Conservation for an hour of action to learn how we can save this critical educational institute.

After more than 75 years of leading in outdoor education, the gates of the New Jersey School of Conservation are at risk of closing forever. Governor Sherrill’s proposed budget would cut all funding for NJSOC, but we can still speak out!

We are pleased to welcome Jacqueline McGarry and Stefanie Maneri as our newest Social Media Interns!

Jacqueline and Stefanie started working with the NJSOC in the fall of 2025 on an independent study at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Through this, they were tasked to create and propose a business plan that could be implemented into the NJSOC within the near future. To help the current standing of the school, Jacqueline and Stefanie were asked to come back this summer to work together on the social media accounts to create fun, engaging, and educational content as social media marketing interns.

Through this internship, Jacqueline and Stefanie hope to leave this summer with more knowledge on the field of social media marketing, as well as taking part in making a lasting impact on the NJSOC and the field of environmental conservation.
