Following Jesus Requires Something of Us.
What does Scripture say Jesus requires of us to put aside to follow?

31 charter members started the Christian church at Swan Creek on October 11, 1852, later to be called Mt. Zion. Not many photos exists of these members, but we do have one of Lafayette Morgan photographed with his wife Fannie. Lafayette passed in 1915 at the age of 85 and is buried at Mt. Zion.

Excuses—
Jesus heard them all. People were allowed to make them. He’s always given free will and choice. Whether you’re in a pew every time the doors are open or not, have you created an excuse for not truly following Jesus—for not being all in for Him and His kingdom? Church, He wants His house to be full (Luke 14:15-25). He sacrificed Himself for it. When His church is all-in, His power can’t be stopped.

175 years—in that time generations have come and gone. There’s been a civil war, world wars, and terrorism. And all during there set a building perched upon a high bluff overlooking the Barren River. It’s been a quaint and simple place, now off the beaten path where people have come to wrestle with life’s most important matters—do I believe in this God and will I follow Him. Because of the decision to build this building and begin this congregation in 1852, we will never fully know the life changing and creating ways our God has used it.
