We currently have 283 kittens in our care. YES, nearly 300 hungry bellies to fill every day. We are burning through bags of dry kitten food faster than our shelves can keep up. Your support ensures we can feed the hundreds of kittens relying on us right now, and it allows us to keep saying 'yes' to every vulnerable newborn that needs our help.

No donation is too small. A single bag of food keeps a litter fed, healthy, and on track to finding a loving family.

If you’ve been wanting to snag some official BGWCHS gear while directly supporting our shelter pets, this is your ultimate chance! The Shelter Store is hosting a special Facebook Live auction this Thursday at 1:00 PM featuring the final, remaining inventory of some of our most adorable shelter merch.

IMPORTANT AUCTION & PICK-UP DETAILS
📍 Pick-Up Location: 1951 River Street, Bowling Green (right next to the BGWCHS River Street entrance).
⏰ Pick-Up Window: Merchandise must be picked up from the Shelter Store this week on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
⏳ Need more time? Just send the group a message stating "I need a next week pick-up," and we will hold your items for one extra week. Otherwise, all unclaimed shelves are completely cleared at 4:00 PM on Saturday to prepare for the next week's inventory.
💳 Payment: No online or over-the-phone payments are accepted in advance. You will pay at the counter when you pick up your items (Cash, Credit, or Debit are all accepted).
🚫 Shipping: No shipping or delivery is available—local pick-up only!

Every dollar goes directly to funding medical care, food, and housing for the hundreds of animals currently at the shelter.

Momma Izzy update! The puppies are here, and the final count is 11! 🐾🍼

While our hearts melt at the sight of these sweet newborns, Izzy’s situation highlights a very heavy reality for our shelter. We are currently facing an absolute tidal wave of pregnant mothers, accidental litters, and vulnerable newborn babies arriving at our facility every single day.

Momma Izzy’s intake turned into 12 total dogs needing to find homes. We love them fiercely, and our staff will work so hard to find every one of them a loving home, but this pace is simply not sustainable.

We are begging our Bowling Green and Warren County neighbors to help us break this cycle. Please, spay and neuter your pets. It is the single most impactful thing you can do to prevent shelter overcrowding and save lives.

Because neonatal puppies are very vulnerable, their health and availability can change quickly. Additionally, babies may go into foster homes, and we allow a foster family the first choice to adopt the babies they’ve cared for. For these reasons, and more, we do not place holds or promise placement on kittens and puppies until they are medically cleared for adoption.

The best way to get a head start is to fill out an application and let us know what kind of pet you’re looking for. This allows our team to pre-approve you as an adopter, and you’ll be added to our waitlist. While our dog and cat kennels are incredibly busy, we are also brimming with adorable critters who are looking for their forever families! Right now, we have:

Aside from being completely adorable, small critters make incredible companions. They are perfect for apartments or smaller spaces, they don't require walks in the summer heat, and they are packed with distinct, funny personalities. From the happy "wheeking" chatters of our guinea pigs to the calm, sweet snuggles of our bunnies and the brilliant, social curiosity of our rats, these guys bring immense joy to a home!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 9! It is the last chance for your pup to support the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society while enjoying a Bowling Green Hot Rods game! ⚾️ 🐕

For every dog who attends the June 9 Tail Waggin’ Tuesday, the Hot Rods will donate $12 (the cost of a ticket) directly to BGWCHS! 🎟️🐾

Grab your leash, bring your favorite four-legged baseball fan, and come cheer on the Hot Rods while saving lives.
