HOTEL INC and the American Red Cross Warren County Community Adaptation Program team were honored in Washington, DC, with the prestigious American Red Cross Susan Hassmiller Nursing Award. This national award honors the work of our Street Medicine and Medical Respite programs and will help to train local nurses and nursing students in disaster response and community health navigation.
The Susan Hassmiller Award, a one-time $5,000 grant, was established in 2007 to enhance Red Cross local service delivery capacity through the increased engagement of nurses and nursing students in policy, leadership, and service delivery positions. The reviewers look for programs or activities that boost nurse engagement in one or a combination of the Red Cross lines of business, and/or in policy and leadership roles.

Among many accomplishments, Susan Hassmiller served more than 25 years with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as Senior Advisor for Nursing Emeritus, 50 years as a Red Cross volunteer, nurse, and board member, and was awarded the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Florence Nightingale Medal, the highest international distinction a nurse can receive.
