Founded in 1976 as the Boulder Parks and Recreation Foundation, PLAY Boulder Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting parks and recreation opportunities in Boulder, CO. PLAY Boulder Foundation encourages all City of Boulder residents to VOTE YES on the Building Boulder Together: Recreation and Safety Bond on November 3rd, 2026.

The proposed bond will pay for the city’s backlog of unfunded building maintenance needs through renovations and replacements, including that of North and South Boulder Recreation Centers.

PLAY Boulder promotes access to recreation across the city and county, are are specifically invested in the updates and renovations of the North and South Recreation Centers.

Recreation Centers provide more than recreation - they're a resource for community, mentorship, childcare, and more. They are pillars of a connected and thoughtful community. This bond will help individuals and families across our city have access to what it is we all deserve.

🌳 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY THIS SATURDAY 🌳

PLAY Boulder is looking for a few more volunteers to help out with our Growing Shade Longmont Tree Pick-Up Event this Saturday, October 3rd at Clark Centennial Park from 8:15 a.m. - noon. The main roles for volunteers will be to help program participants sign in, pick up their free tree and tree care tools, and load the trees/tools into their vehicles. Volunteers will be fed!

We’re one week away from the Growing Shade Tree Pick-Up Event in Longmont! On Saturday, October 3rd from 9am - 12pm at Clark Centennial Park, PLAY Boulder’s Tree Trust will be giving away free trees to residents in select Longmont neighborhoods.

Areas in Longmont east of Main Street can participate in the Fall 2026 Growing Shade program.

On Nov. 3, 2026, Boulder voters will weigh in on several ballot items, including the Building Boulder Together: Recreation and Safety Bond. The proposed bond would pay for the city’s backlog of unfunded building maintenance needs through renovations and replacements.

Recreation Centers provide more than recreation - they're a place for community, mentorship, childcare, and more. They are the difference between a teenager getting into trouble and finding a love for a sport. They allow low-income families opportunities to use their resources for a subsidized cost in partnership with our PLAYpass program. They are pillars of a connected and thoughtful community.

Maybe you use the recreation centers, or maybe you don't. Regardless, this bond will help individuals and families across our city have access to what it is we all deserve.

Registration is open for our Fall 2026 Tree Tenders Training!

When: Tuesdays Sept 29th, Oct 6th, and Oct 13th
Where: East Boulder Community Center - Ballroom
Cost: FREE

Learn all about tree care in this FREE 3-day workshop hosted by the PLAY Boulder Foundation's Tree Trust, City of Boulder Forestry, and Cool Boulder. This is a chance to learn hands-on and ask an expert in your community! You will be joining a network of tree lovers with the goal of growing the urban tree canopy in Boulder County.

Now that school is back in session, we've been reflecting back on an incredible season with our Community Forestry Corps! This summer, 20 corps numbers and 4 corps leaders built invaluable connections with one another and environmental leaders throughout Boulder County, and learned how to be stewards of trees and pollinators from hands-on experience.

We're so proud of our crew, and can't wait until next year! 🌳
