This National Library Week, we are proud to partner with the American Library Association to strengthen the capacity of libraries across the U.S. to meet adult literacy needs.

The opportunity is significant. Millions of adults are seeking pathways to stronger literacy skills, and public libraries have stepped up as high-trust, low-barrier hubs for foundational and digital literacy in communities across the country.

Stay tuned for a landscape scan from World Education, a JSI initiative, exploring how libraries are meeting community needs as conveners, venues of instruction, and direct service providers.

This week, we celebrate National Library Week, and the incredible partners libraries have been in our work.

Libraries are community anchors where people of all ages come to grow, navigate change, and build toward something better. For World Education, a JSI initiative, they have been essential collaborators in designing locally led, learner-centered solutions that help people re-enter education with confidence, upskill for a changing workforce, and navigate the transitions that shape their lives.

We are grateful for the librarians and library staff who show up every day to make that possible. Thank you for transforming lives and strengthening communities, one learner at a time.

Today, on National AI Literacy Day, we explore what a lifespan approach to AI literacy actually looks like as it shapes our world.

AI literacy builds over time, across contexts, and through community. Building on the DOL's newly released AI Literacy Framework, our latest blog explores what it means to support that journey across life stages: from young people learning to critically evaluate AI tools, to adult learners building foundational skills, to older workers whose judgment and experience are exactly what responsible AI use requires.

AI literacy may be the defining skill-building opportunity of our time. The question is how to build an approach expansive enough to meet people where they are.

As AI becomes as fundamental as reading and writing, we must develop an approach that goes beyond the use of specific tools.

Education provides the foundation a girl deserves for her future. For many, the path to graduation is challenged by social, economic, and behavioral factors. At World Education, a JSI Initiative, we are partnering with the National Youth Institute in Mozambique, with the support of the World Bank Group, to redesign systems that affect girls' lived realities.

Our work focuses on:
- Helping girls stay in school and successfully complete their education.
- Providing transformative life-skills education for girls who have previously dropped out of school due to pregnancy, early marriage, or economic pressures.

We are working closely with communities to transform barriers girls face, strengthening girls’ lives and those of their communities for generations to come.

Stay tuned as we share the results of this work in the coming months.

We’re proud to celebrate the launch of the Capacity Development Platform (CDP), ’s new national digital hub for teacher training. Led by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) and UNICEF, World Education, a JSI initiative, was responsible for the technical design and rollout of this milestone project.

“The course strengthened my knowledge and practical skills in using digital tools and AI for lesson planning, making my students more active and participatory in the classroom,” said Mrs. Proeut Sanh, a primary school teacher from Kralanh District, Siem Reap Province.

By centering the platform on the needs of teachers, we are ensuring that digital tools translate directly into better classroom outcomes.

"Eu Sou Capaz is about more than access to education — it is about removing the invisible barriers that stop girls from thriving," says Obert Darara, JSI’s World Education Country Lead in Mozambique. "By integrating social and behaviour change with human-centred design, we are supporting the National Youth Institute to redesign systems around girls’ realities, so enrolment becomes achievement."

We are combining community mobilization approaches with life-skills education and material support, while focusing on root causes. Learn more about the project: https://worlded.org/world-education-awarded-eu-sou-capaz-technical-assistance-activity-mozambique/
