MOAR - Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery

MOAR - Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery Our DEI Statement: MOAR is a voice for all people seeking the benefits of recovery.

Our Mission: To organize recovering individuals, families and friends into a collective voice to educate the public about the value of recovery from alcohol and other addictions. Our Vision: MOAR envisions a society where addiction is treated as a significant public health issue and recovery is recognized as valuable to all our communities. We are committed to doing the work necessary to address t

he struggles and inequities diverse groups of people face while seeking recovery services. Systemic racism, prejudice, and bias have been deeply ingrained in the history of the American health care system. MOAR is committed to work to create a collective voice for those seeking recovery for all people who have been historically underserved, marginalized, and oppressed.

Pride Month began as a protest for LGBTQ+ rights and has grown into a celebration of resilience, progress, and community. For those in addiction recovery, Pride can also bring challenges, especially in spaces where alcohol and substances are common.

You can celebrate Pride while protecting your recovery. Plan ahead, know your triggers, set clear boundaries, and bring support with you. Seek out or create sober spaces like virtual events, small gatherings, or community service opportunities. Staying connected to your routine, support network, and self-care practices can help you stay grounded.

Pride is about honoring who you are. Your recovery is part of that. Celebrate in ways that keep you safe, supported, and empowered. 🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This past Wednesday Katie Shamaly-Criasia, MOAR's Southeast Regional Coordinator, facilitated the Southeast Regional Policy Forum at the Taunton Public Library!

It was wonderful to see representation from our friends at Taunton Peer Recovery Center, Stairway to Recovery, MA Young People in Recovery, Hardcore Connections Inc. , Peer 2 Peer Recovery Support Center, The Sun Will Rise Foundation, Inc., the office of Senator Kelly Dooner, among other great organizations!

Special thank you to Hannaford Supermarkets and Home Plate Bay Street Grill for their generous donation of delicious food for the event.
