We spoke with Boston 25 News about the recent shootings in Downtown Boston and our call for increased police staffing, a stronger visible presence, and sustained coordination across the neighborhood. Downtown has made meaningful progress, but that progress cannot be taken for granted. We will continue working with residents, law enforcement, elected officials, businesses, institutional partners, and service providers to ensure that everyone is safe - and feels safe.

We will continue to advocate for the resources, coordination, and visible presence needed to keep Downtown Boston safe. Everyone deserves to be safe - and to feel safe - without exception.

Residents and a city councilor who represents the area are sounding the alarm on public safety concerns in downtown Boston, where five people have been shot in the past two weeks and crime is on the rise.

Public safety has been and continues to be the top priority for Downtown Boston residents. The triple shooting on Tremont Street last night is deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable. There is nothing about a shooting at 10:50 p.m. on a Monday night that makes residents, workers, students, visitors, tourists, or business owners feel safe.

Downtown Boston has made meaningful progress over the past year through stronger collaboration among residents, city leaders, law enforcement, businesses, and service providers - but incidents like this are a stark reminder that our work is far from finished. We cannot accept violence as the norm. We must continue investing in the people, policing, and partnerships necessary to make Downtown Boston the safe, vibrant neighborhood our residents and business owners deserve.
