Dibora’s life was once marked by poverty, abandonment, hunger, and fear. With two children and nowhere safe to live, she found herself struggling simply to survive.

When Shage Sodano first entered the Family Hope International program, she was sleeping on the ground under a canvas sheet and struggling to make ends meet.

Today, she owns a bed, has reclaimed and cultivates her farmland, runs a thriving butter and cheese business, has built assets worth an estimated 300,000 birr, and is helping other women learn to save and build their own futures.

This is what transformation looks like and it’s made possible when someone is given the opportunity to build a better future.

Meet Pastor Paul Kasili of Calvary Hope Church in Kibera, Kenya.

Pastor Paul is one of the many lives being transformed through Family Hope International and is now preparing to graduate from the program.

When he joined FHI, he received the support and business training needed to start a small fruit vending business. Through hard work, wise stewardship, and ongoing mentorship, that business has grown into a thriving food vending business near Toi Market, where his wife now serves hot lunches to customers each day.

Pastor Paul says Family Hope International has done far more than help him start a business. He has gained valuable financial knowledge, learning the importance of budgeting, saving, and investing for the future. These principles have helped strengthen both his family's financial stability and their confidence for the years ahead.

As part of FHI's network of pastors, he has also benefited from the encouragement, wisdom, and fellowship of other church leaders. Through these relationships, he has learned new ways to strengthen his ministry while building lasting friendships with fellow pastors who faithfully support one another during life's challenges.

Stories like Pastor Paul's remind us that lasting change happens when families are empowered with opportunity, practical training, and the love of Christ.
Together, we are helping families in Kibera and across Africa move from dependence to dignity, one life at a time.
