This year, Isla would have turned 16, and as we approach her birthday, we’re once again reminded of how deeply she is loved and missed.
One of the greatest gifts we’ve been given is watching her light continue to shine through all of you.
Each year, we celebrate Isla’s birthday by asking those who would like to honor her memory to consider making a $16 donation (or any amount) to Shine for Isla.
Because of your generosity, we’ve been able to launch initiatives like the Sunshine Cart, support local animal organizations, award scholarships, and spread kindness throughout our community—all in Isla’s memory.

This is always a bittersweet time of year for our family as we prepare to celebrate Isla's birthday on July 30. This year, she would have turned 16.

Not a day goes by that we don't miss her. But one of the greatest gifts we've been given is seeing her light continue to shine through all of you.

Because of your generosity, kindness, and support, Shine for Isla continues to spread sunshine in Isla's honor and make a meaningful difference in our community.

This past year, we were proud to launch one of our newest initiatives at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health – St. Elizabeth Hospital: the Sunshine Cart.

This brightly wrapped cart is filled with comfort items for patients and their families—from upgraded toiletries and cozy socks to lavender eye pillows, sound machines, puzzles, coloring supplies, and other thoughtful gifts designed to bring comfort, encouragement, and a little sunshine during difficult moments.

In the coming year, we hope to expand the Sunshine Cart program to reach even more patients, continue supporting local animal organizations, award scholarships, and create new opportunities to spread kindness throughout our community—all in Isla's memory.

✨ Community kindness in action ✨

We are incredibly grateful to the amazing middle school students at North Tapps Middle School who recently held a Sunshine Cart drive benefiting the Shine for Isla Foundation and the St. Elizabeth Sunshine Cart. 💛

Through their generosity, compassion, and hard work, they collected over 1,000 items that will help bring comfort, encouragement, and moments of joy to patients and families at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health St.Elizabeth Hospital.

From cozy comfort items to activities and self-care gifts, every donation represents kindness and hope during difficult moments. Seeing young people come together to make such a meaningful impact reminds us exactly what Shine for Isla is all about — being the sunshine for others. ☀️

Exciting news! We are sponsoring a Sunshine Cart at St.Elizabeth Hospital! A big thank you to BLUE INK for the beautiful design and wrap!

Honoring a daughter's legacy through acts of kindness. Rebecca Cameron, Lead Clinical Dietitian at St. Elizabeth Hospital, has served patients for 11 years. But in 2020, her life changed forever when her 10-year-old daughter Isla passed away from Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood.

In their grief, Rebecca and her family decided to honor Isla's joyful, kind spirit by creating the Shine for Isla Foundation, dedicated to spreading joy through small, random acts of kindness.

Rebecca brought this mission to St. Elizabeth Hospital by partnering with the Shared Governance team and Jenny Holbert, Manager of Clinical Services, to create the "Sunshine Cart." This brightly wrapped medical cart is stocked with comfort items for patients, from upgraded toiletries and cozy socks to lavender eye pillows, sound machines, puzzles, and coloring supplies.

"Isla loved making others happy," Rebecca shares. The Sunshine Cart ensures that her daughter's kindness continues touching lives every day at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
