🐎 Why We Don’t Offer “Just For Fun Rides” 🐎
We occasionally get messages asking if someone can borrow or rent a horse for an hour — just for fun, no lesson, no supervision.
We totally understand the love of riding (trust us… we get it 😄). But here’s the honest reality:
Our lesson horses already work a full schedule. What feels like a fun, relaxing ride to a person is actually extra work to them. These horses are professional teachers — they carry riders of all skill levels, stay patient through mistakes, and work hard to keep students safe. They need downtime to stay sound, happy, and willing to do their jobs.
Also… let’s talk about the not-fun-but-very-real part:
👉 Our insurance does NOT allow non-students or unsupervised riders.
👉 Letting someone ride outside our program can void our coverage.
👉 If someone gets hurt, the farm owner can be held legally responsible — even with waivers.
👉 “Negligence” is a very real and scary word in the horse world.
And horses aren’t like ATVs or rental equipment. If one gets injured, you can’t just go buy another safe, trained lesson horse. They take years to develop and are truly irreplaceable tenured professors. If they are accidently injured, they could be out of work for months or even permanently.
If you want to ride — we LOVE that! 💛
The safe way to do it is through lessons, supervised rides, or volunteering and building trust with the program.
Our horses are under our protection and keeping them (and riders) safe will always come first.
