We heard from Sarah Bowman from the Taubman Museum of Art at our June 1st meeting. It's their 75th Anniversary and they have special exhibits and tours planned for the year along with fun opportunities for you and the kids in your life to get creative. Best of all, their general admission is free! Check out their website for more details: https://www.taubmanmuseum.org/

Thanks to Sarah also for bringing a goodie bag from the Taubman's museum shop for the winner of our PolioPlus 50/50 raffle, Terry Nicholson.

Former Foundation Chair Ernie Bentley presented members John Austin and Terry Golden with their latest Paul Harris Fellow pins. Thanks for supporting Rotary International Foundation!

At our May 18th meeting, we heard from member Tamra Oliver about her experience on this spring's Rotary District 7570 Friendship Exchange to Brazil. The TL;DR is "It was a great experience!" She recommends everyone take the opportunities Rotary provides for travel to other countries to meet other Rotarians and that you visit with the Rotarians from Brazil when they visit in September!

Past President Dan Berenato's brother was in town for a visit too - do you see the resemblance?

We were thrilled to celebrate 4 seniors from Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia at our May 4th meeting! Nevada Atkins of Auburn High School who was an essential member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter and plans to pursue a Business degree, likely at Ferrum College; Jaden Do of Blacksburg High School who studied Graphics and Advertising Design and plans to major in Graphic Design at Radford University; Reece Masri of Christiansburg High School who studied Robotics and plans to major in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech; and Caleb Jones of Eastern Montgomery High School who will continue his studies at New River Community College. Congratulations to all!

We heard from Joseph Collins, the President and Founder of The World War II Museum of the NRV at our last meeting. Joseph shared his passion for WWII history that began when he was young and hearing his grandfather's stories from the war. That led to his own service in the military, as well as collecting WWII memorabilia and creating this, our newest museum in the New River Valley so that younger generations don't forget why that war was fought and the sacrifices their families made. The museum is located at 1531 North Main Street in Blacksburg and open Thursday-Saturday or other days for group tours. Check out their website here to plan your visit: https://www.thewwiimuseumatnrv.org/

We heard from Laura Costigan and Dr. J. R. Farrington from the Boys Home of Virginia at our last meeting. Founded in 1906, Boys Home is a small boarding school in the Alleghany Highlands that provides a welcoming school environment, a stable living situation, and opportunities to explore educational and career options help their students become responsible, well-rounded young men at no cost to them or their families. Their story was inspiring.

We also welcomed back member Tamra Oliver who had recently returned from the Rotary District 7570 Friendship Exchange to Brazil which we look forward to hearing about at a future meeting!

Hmmm...after all of her efforts to get everyone in Rotary District 7570 to post on Facebook, it feels like there's some chance the District social media police are going to arrest us for forgetting to post Cora's presentation to our club on Facebook!🙄 So, Cora Gnegy, Public Image Chair for the Giles County Rotary Club and former District Public Image Chair spoke to our club back on March 2nd to tell us about the Ignite app to make all things Rotary easier.
