Several current and former members of our band play with The Old Pros Big Band. Dean is both the Director of Old Pros as well as the Associate Director of our band!

Their music is great, and I know that they would love to see you out on Henderson Lawn on Friday!

Don't forget, we are playing at the Mt. Tabor Ruritan Fish Fry this Saturday, June 13th! 🎷🐟

The Founder’s Scholarship in honor of Ed Schwartz was established by the Blacksburg Community Band in 2014 to foster a desire in high school musicians to become lifelong musicians regardless of the profession they choose to pursue. The scholarship, now a permanently endowed scholarship under the auspices of the Community Foundation of the NRV, is a financial award that can be used for private lessons, instrument repair or replacement, fees for music workshops and college tuition.

The 2026 Scholarships were awarded to the following recipients at our Spring Concert.

Samuel Anderson: Samuel plays alto and soprano saxophone. He graduated from Blacksburg High School this year and intends to apply the scholarship money towards college tuition.

Reese Pattison: Reese plays flute. She graduated from Blacksburg High School this year and intends to apply the scholarship money towards purchasing a piccolo.

Paige Walker: Paige plays flute and piccolo in addition to guitar. She graduated from Christiansburg High School this year and intends to apply the scholarship money towards upgrading to a professional model flute.

Congratulations on your scholarships and best of luck in your studies and all of your future musical endeavours!

They're here, they are here, THEY ARE FINALLY HERE!!!

But... what are they? 🤔 Sometimes called kettledrums, this is the timpani that we raised money for last year, and thanks to our wonderful donors, they are finally here!

This year we are continuing to outfit our percussion section by purchasing a vibraphone, also known as "vibes". If you would like to donate, you can do so with no additional fees (from you or us!) through our link at Zeffy: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/help-us-purchase-a-vibraphone-in--2026

Thank you, and we hope to see you at our next event on Saturday June 13th at the Mt. Tabor Ruritan Fish Fry!
