Hope To Walk brings freedom and hope by delivering low-cost prosthetic legs to those in need

Hope To Walk is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable and accessible prosthetic legs to below-knee amputees in underserved communities around the world. Our mission is to help people regain their mobility, independence, and dignity by offering prosthetics at no cost, made possible by generous donations and dedicated volunteers.

🇱🇨 Two weeks of training. A lifetime of impact ahead. 🦿❤️

After two incredible weeks in St. Lucia, we’re proud to share that Murray and Denel are now trained to build Hope To Walk prosthetic legs locally! 🙌🏾

Phil and Max spent the past two weeks working alongside them—sharing the knowledge, techniques, and hands-on experience needed to continue helping amputees long after our team leaves the island.

This is what sustainability looks like.

Our goal isn’t simply to travel somewhere, build prosthetic legs, and leave. We want to share our knowledge, train local people, establish the equipment and systems needed, and help create a model that can continue year-round within the country.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible collaboration of Rotary Club Caribbean Plus, the Government of St. Lucia, Montero Medical Missions, and the Tapion Foundation. Thank you for believing in this mission and helping turn this vision into reality. 🇱🇨🤝🌎

Hope To Walk will continue supporting Murray and Denel and sending the equipment and supplies needed to keep the mission moving forward.

And now we have an even bigger vision:

Could St. Lucia become the first country where every amputee who needs a prosthetic leg has access to one? 🦿🇱🇨

That’s the goal.

Two weeks changed lives—but more importantly, these two weeks created the opportunity to keep changing lives for years to come.

🇱🇨 Building legs. Building skills. Building a sustainable future. 🙌🏾

Our training in St. Lucia is off to an incredible start!

Two local prosthetists are being trained to build Hope To Walk prosthetic legs, guided step-by-step by Phil and Max. And after just the first couple of days, they’ve already successfully built their first legs themselves! 🦿👏🏾

We still have one more week of hands-on training ahead, with the goal of leaving St. Lucia with a local team fully prepared to continue building Hope To Walk legs long after we leave.

This is what sustainable impact looks like to us: not only coming into a country to help people walk again, but sharing the knowledge, training local people, and creating the ability to keep serving amputees year-round.

One clinic becomes another. Two trained prosthetists can help dozens, and eventually hundreds, of people regain their mobility.

What a beautiful way to expand the Hope To Walk mission and help more people walk again around the world. 🌎🦿❤️

🇱🇨🦿 St. Lucia, we’re ready!

The clinic is set up, the tools are ready, and tomorrow we officially start building legs! 🙌🏾

For the next 10 days, Phil and Max will be working alongside and training our local team here in St. Lucia — not only to help amputees walk again during this mission, but to teach the Hope To Walk process so the impact can continue after we leave.

That’s what makes this trip so exciting. ❤️

We’re here to build legs, share knowledge, train local hands, and create something sustainable.

Tomorrow, the first patients walk through these doors and the work begins. 🦿

🇱🇨🦿 We’re heading back to St. Lucia — and this time, we’re going bigger!

Over the next two weeks, our goal is to provide 50 prosthetic legs to 50 amputees. But what excites us most is what will continue long after our team leaves.

This mission is another major step toward developing a sustainable Hope To Walk clinic in St. Lucia, where we’ll be training two local prosthetists to build Hope To Walk legs and serve amputees year-round. 🙌🏾

Because our goal isn’t simply to arrive, build legs, and leave.

Our goal is to leave behind the knowledge, tools, training, and local capacity to keep people walking. ❤️

We’re grateful to be making this possible in partnership with the Ministry of Health of St. Lucia, Rotary in the Caribbean, and Montero Medical Missions.

Two weeks.
Two local prosthetists being trained.
And the beginning of something we hope will serve St. Lucia for years to come. 🇱🇨

20 years without a prosthetic. Today, Rolando is walking again. 🦿❤️

Rolando received his last prosthetic leg when he was a child. By age 13, he had outgrown it—and for the next 20 years, he lived without one.

After being told by several places that his unique limb would be too difficult to fit, a simple WhatsApp message eventually connected him with Hope To Walk.

One week later, Rolando came to our clinic. Just 3 hours after arriving, he was taking his first steps in 20 years. 🙌🏾

And what a special moment to share. Virginia Tech students, along with Nathan, a prosthetist, and Theresa, a physical therapist, were here to work alongside our team and be part of building and fitting Rolando’s new leg.

Sometimes it takes a team willing to say, “Let’s find a way.”

Welcome back to walking, Rolando. ❤️

🌎🦿 WE ARE FINALISTS!

We are incredibly proud to announce that Hope To Walk has been selected as a finalist in the Health & Healing category of the 2026 .ORG Impact Awards!

This recognition feels especially meaningful when we look at the scale of this year’s awards:

And Hope To Walk is one of them. ❤️

But this recognition isn’t just about our organization.

It’s about every person who has walked through our doors hoping for another chance to walk.

It’s about every first step.

This week, our Hope To Walk family grew a little bigger. 🦿❤️

We had the privilege of welcoming an incredible group of volunteers who traveled from different parts of the U.S. to Guatemala — four students, a prosthetist, and his wife, a physical therapist — bringing valuable supplies and, most importantly, a willingness to learn, serve, and get their hands to work.

They experienced our clinic days firsthand, learned the Hope To Walk process, worked alongside our team, and helped us build 7 prosthetic legs this week — 7 lives impacted.

We are incredibly grateful for people who take the time to travel, step into our world, and truly understand what goes into helping someone walk again.

They are now back home in the U.S., but the impact they left behind continues with every step our patients take.

Thank you for your time, your hands, your hearts, and your support. Safe travels home, and we hope to see you again! 🙏🌎

There’s something incredibly special about watching someone stand up and walk again—sometimes after months, sometimes after years.

Today was one of those days that reminds us how blessed we are to be able to give back, serve others, and witness these moments firsthand.
