ICAN has released its first round of 2026 endorsements — candidates across 26 California races who have demonstrated a commitment to combating antisemitism and strengthening the U.S.–Israel relationship.

Governor. Attorney General. Congress. State legislature. City council. County. School board. Every level of government. Both parties.

Each candidate was vetted through the ICAN Index — the Mamdani Index — our proprietary tracking and scoring system that monitors where officials and candidates stand on antisemitism, the U.S.–Israel alliance, and BDS. State and local first. That is where the fight is.

Additional endorsements across further states and jurisdictions are forthcoming.

A man drove a truck into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan today — the largest Reform synagogue in the United States. He was armed with a rifle. 140 children were inside. Synagogue security stopped him.

This is not an isolated incident. It is the direct result of a political climate where elected officials deploy language like “apartheid,” “genocide,” and “colonizers” against Jews and Jewish institutions — and face no consequences for it.

It is also the result of a system that continues to treat antisemitism as a second-class hate crime. No other minority community would accept this disparity. We won’t either.

The children at Temple Israel are safe today because their security team was trained and ready. Policy needs to catch up to that reality.

Elizabeth Barcohana, Chair of the California Republican Party's Subcommittee for Jewish Engagement, has partnered with ICAN to direct Republican candidates at every level — local, state, and federal — to ICAN's endorsement process ahead of the 2026 elections.

ICAN is the only bipartisan organization endorsing candidates on pro-Israel and antisemitism issues at the state and local level. Unlike traditional processes that focus narrowly on foreign policy, ICAN evaluates candidates on the full spectrum of issues facing Jewish communities — from ethnic studies and K-12 education to hate crimes, campus antisemitism, BDS, and IHRA.

Evaluations are powered by the ICAN Mamdani Index™, our proprietary political intelligence platform that tracks and scores elected officials and candidates before they ever sit for an interview.

The partnership comes as California has recorded 1,344 antisemitic incidents in 2024 alone, anti-Jewish hate crimes in LA County have nearly doubled, and the DOJ has filed a federal lawsuit against the UC system over antisemitism at UCLA.

Happy California-Israel Day! 🇺🇸🇮🇱

Twelve years ago today, Governor Jerry Brown and Prime Minister Netanyahu signed a landmark agreement in Silicon Valley that made California and Israel official strategic partners. Water tech. Cybersecurity. Biotech. Clean energy.

Most Californians have no idea this exists — now you do.

This is what a real alliance looks like and ICAN exists to make sure this partnership thrives for another 12 years.

Here's what that partnership actually built:

💧 Water: Israeli companies like Netafim, IDE, and Amiad brought drip irrigation, desalination, and wastewater recycling tech directly to California farms and municipalities — as the state faced its worst drought in decades.

🔬 Science: UC Berkeley and the Israel Innovation Authority signed a co-innovation MOU in 2017. Israeli and California researchers have collaborated on hundreds of joint projects through the U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation.

🔒 Cybersecurity: California and Israel are two of the world's leading cyber hubs. The partnership opened direct channels between Silicon Valley and Israeli defense tech firms.

🌱 Agritech: Israeli agricultural technology entered the California market through the partnership's Financial Innovation Lab, helping reshape how the state manages water on farms.

Two-way trade between California and Israel was already over $4 billion when the MOU was signed. That number has only grown.

Today we want to express our deepest gratitude to Governor Jerry Brown, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the California leaders who had the vision and courage to make this partnership real.

What you built twelve years ago continues to deliver for both our states — and we are committed to defending and expanding that legacy.

Last night, Beverly Hills Councilmember and three-time former Mayor John Mirisch, who also serves as ICAN's Chief Policy Officer, read ICAN's statement from the dais condemning Governor Newsom for calling Israel an "apartheid state."

This is the second time in one week the Governor has platformed narratives advanced by America's enemies. Last Monday he amplified unverified Iranian regime claims. Now he's deploying an antisemitic slur against America's closest ally.

California was once a national leader in holding Iran accountable, becoming the first state to ban Iran-linked companies from government contracts. Now its governor is lending credibility to the regime's talking points.

The Israeli-American community, a quarter million strong in Los Angeles alone, will not forget this.

Governor Newsom called Israel an "apartheid state" on a national podcast — while promoting his book.

Israel is a democracy. Arab citizens serve in its parliament, on its Supreme Court, and in its military. This label isn't a policy critique. It's a slur that provides cover to those who seek Israel's destruction.

California was the first state to divest from Iran, ban Iran-linked companies from state contracts, and extend those standards to banking and insurance. LA voted 13-0 to enforce them locally.

Previous governors understood what was at stake.

250,000 Israelis live in Los Angeles alone. They deserve a governor who represents them, not one who slanders their homeland on a book tour.

Tell Newsom: retract these remarks.

Take action:

Governor Newsom called Israel an "apartheid state" on a book tour. California deserves better. Send a message to the Governor's office and demand he retract these remarks immediately.

BREAKING: U.S. and Israel Launch Joint Strikes on Iran — Iran Retaliates

Israel and the United States have launched a joint preemptive military strike against Iran. Iran has begun retaliating with missile and drone strikes targeting U.S. bases in the Gulf region.

Key facts as of this hour:

• Israel has named the operation “Lion’s Roar.” The U.S. military has designated its campaign “Operation Epic Fury.”

• Defense Minister Israel Katz described the strikes as a preemptive action to neutralize imminent threats. Israeli strikes have targeted senior Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Khamenei and President Pezeshkian.

• U.S. President Trump announced the United States has begun “major combat operations in Iran,” stating the objective is to “defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.” U.S. strikes are being carried out by air and sea.

• Iran has launched retaliatory strikes. Explosions reported near U.S. military installations in Qatar and Bahrain. U.S. Embassy in Qatar has implemented shelter-in-place protocols.

• A 48-hour state of emergency has been declared in Israel. Israelis have been instructed to stay near safe rooms. Hospitals are operating from protected facilities. All passenger flights halted.

• Reports indicate targets include homes of senior Iranian officials, military installations, nuclear facilities, and government ministry buildings. Cyberattacks have also disrupted Iranian news agencies and mobile infrastructure.

Context: This action follows weeks of escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear and missile programs and a major U.S. military buildup in the region. Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons capability poses an existential threat to Israel and a direct challenge to American interests and regional stability.

ICAN is closely monitoring this fast-moving situation and will share verified updates as they become available.
