We are proud to celebrate The Felsenthal Family at this year’s Tea & Tequila Gala as the recipients of the Judy Briskin Spirit of Community Award.

For generations, Erica, Leland, Judy, and Jerry Felsenthal, in loving memory, have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to service, philanthropy, and the greater good.

Jerry Felsenthal, of blessed memory, served Beverly Hills as a commissioner for nine years and played an instrumental role in helping Maple Counseling secure its home on La Cienega Boulevard. Judy’s decades of community leadership have touched countless organizations and causes. Leland has continued the family’s philanthropic tradition through nonprofit and healthcare leadership, including three years on Maple’s Board. Erica, a clinical neuropsychologist and longtime community leader, has championed children’s mental health and social media safety while supporting Maple through her service as a Beverly Hills commissioner and educator for our trainees.

Together, the Felsenthals represent a multigenerational legacy of service, leadership, and community impact, and we are honored to recognize them.

This week, Maple Counseling’s Board and staff attended a packing evening at Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles , preparing meals for the community—but this partnership goes far beyond volunteering.

Through this collaboration, Maple provides meals to our own clients, helping ensure that families have access to food while navigating life’s challenges. Meeting basic needs like nutrition isn’t separate from mental health care—it’s foundational to it.

Our hallways are filling up again as Maple welcomes 60 new trainees into our Clinical Training Program—a hands-on professional development pathway for emerging therapists and mental health practitioners focused on community-based, trauma-informed care.

Over the coming months, trainees will work alongside licensed clinicians, deepen their clinical skills through supervised practice, and learn how to provide accessible, culturally responsive mental health support to individuals and families navigating complex life experiences.

We’re grateful to be expanding this learning community and investing in the next generation of clinicians committed to care that meets people where they are.

Michael has proudly served on Maple’s Board for 15 years, inspired by the life-changing work of providing accessible mental health care to our community. His commitment to Maple even led him to pursue a master’s degree in psychology—an incredible testament to his passion for mental health and service.
