📘 Coming Soon: IFWF Policy Brief No. 1

We are pleased to announce that the International Foundation for World Freedom is preparing for the publication of our first Policy Brief:
“From Barriers to Blueprints: Understanding the Usage–Comprehension Gap in Financial Literacy.”

Our research examines an important but often overlooked question: having access to financial information does not necessarily mean that people understand it well enough to use it effectively.

The Policy Brief introduces the concept of the Usage–Comprehension Gap and explores its implications for financial literacy, financial inclusion, and economic well-being.

This publication represents the work of our Economic Department and our broader research community, with a focus on producing practical, evidence-based research that can contribute to policy discussions.

We look forward to sharing the Brief publicly very soon.

📊 Research. Evidence. Policy. Impact.

📚 A Rich Body of Economic Research Is Coming

Behind every IFWF publication is a team of economists and researchers bringing together different perspectives, academic backgrounds, and areas of expertise.

Our upcoming Policy Brief reflects this growing research capacity.
The Brief examines economic barriers and opportunities through research grounded in the real experiences of people navigating the U.S. economy — including the challenges faced by new immigrants and other populations working to understand and participate fully in the economic system.

But this is only part of what our researchers are building.

Our Economics team is also developing work for the State of the U.S. Economy project and exploring new research questions, including labor-market experiences and economic integration of new immigrants.

📖 Our next publication is coming soon.
We are proud of the researchers behind it — and excited about the body of economic research that IFWF is continuing to build.

Stay connected. More research is coming.

IFWF — Something New Is Coming
We are working on our next Policy Brief.

Our research team has been developing a new IFWF Brief addressing an important question at the intersection of economic behavior, financial systems, and real-world decision-making.

We are not ready to reveal the full topic yet. 😉
But we can tell you that the new Brief will continue IFWF's approach of looking beyond the surface of economic problems and asking:
What is actually happening?
Why is it happening?
What evidence can help us understand it?
And what can be done differently?

Our first Policy Brief, From Barriers to Blueprints, examined the Usage–Comprehension Gap and explored how access to financial services does not necessarily mean that people fully understand or effectively use them.

The next Brief takes our research in a new direction.
📚 Research is underway.
🔎 Analysis is continuing.
📝 The Brief is taking shape.

And soon we'll be ready to share it.
What do you think our researchers should investigate next?

Tell us your ideas — you may be surprised how closely your question comes to our current research.

What if graduate education went beyond the classroom?

What if a graduate researcher could learn not only from academic literature, but also from people who actually work inside financial systems?

Imagine a program where a participant could:
🔹 study how businesses obtain working capital;
🔹 examine factoring and purchase-order financing;
🔹 speak directly with finance professionals and risk managers;
🔹 analyze real-world financial cases;
🔹 research foundations and nonprofit funding;
🔹 examine an actual grant proposal and budget;
🔹 study financial literacy as an applied economic issue; and
🔹 finish with an independent applied research project.

The educational model we're exploring at the International Foundation for World Freedom (IFWF) would connect:
Research → Practitioner Experience → Real-World Case → Analysis → Applied Assignment → Research Output

We are considering developing this as a new graduate-level educational and professional-development program.
But before we finalize the concept, we want to hear from graduate students, graduates, researchers, educators, and professionals.

What do you think?
Would this kind of practical, research-based graduate education be valuable?
And what would you want to learn in a program like this?

Please share your thoughts. Your feedback may help shape the program itself.
