Our Sunday programs start THIS Sunday, November 1, and we still have spots open!

Baking-themed pretend play, taking turns, and playing together.

Cooking with Ray: mix, make, and connect!

🔸 Leisure Explorers
Ages 11–16 | 12:00–1:00 PM
Cooking with Ray, featuring chicken fajitas, personal pizzas, crispy chicken and potato bowls, and cinnamon apple crisp cups.

Hands-on fun with opportunities to make choices, build skills, and get to know one another. 🫸🏼🫷🏾

Brick by brick, week by week, our Leisure Explorers found new ways to build and connect. 🧱🧡

A car racing down a ramp sparked encouragement: “Your car went so far!” A movement break became a hockey game, with five players forming teams and working out the rules together.

At the LEGO table, some built with a staff member’s support. Others asked for space to work on their own. There was room for both.

That’s what October looked like: choices, creativity, and opportunities to connect, with support when it helped. 🎃

From Chasing Classic Cars to driving AFC’s mission forward, Wayne Carini has given us plenty to celebrate! 🎉 Today, we’re wishing Wayne a happy birthday, followed by his wife Laurie tomorrow, October 14!

For the past 16 years, Wayne has been instrumental in raising funds for Autism Families CONNECTicut through events, fundraisers, and inspiring others to support our mission.

Wayne and Laurie have both been loyal friends to AFC, and we’re so grateful for the generosity, kindness, and dedication they’ve shared with our community.

Nothing says fall like getting lost in a corn maze with friends. 🍂🌽

Our Young Adult Hangout crew spent Friday evening at Foster Family Farm in South Windsor, making their way through the corn maze, sharing pizza, and enjoying a beautiful fall night together. 🍁

And while the corn maze was the activity, some of our favorite moments were the ones happening along the way: friends catching up, participants helping each other navigate the maze, conversations starting naturally, and people feeling comfortable enough to take the lead. One longtime AFC participant arrived ready to say hello to everyone and later took charge of guiding his group through the maze, a small moment that showed just how much confidence can grow over time. 👏🏼

That’s what we love about Young Adult Hangout. It’s a chance to get out, try something fun, spend time with friends, and keep building the confidence and independence that carry beyond one Friday night.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our staff and volunteers from Trinity College-Hartford, CT who helped make the outing such a great night! 💛
