Just a reminder, we have a bunch of Young Adult Connection Groups meeting this week. Our *NEW* SMART recovery group starts tonight in New London! All of our groups provide a safe place to "unpack" and work through challenges, together.

As we wrap up Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW), we wanted to share some of the life-saving work our NAMI Manchester and NAMI on Campus MCC are doing.
In partnership with Community Health Resources, MCC hosted their semi-annual depression screening event. This event gives students an opportunity to do a "checkup from the neck up" and speak with licensed clinicians about their scores.
Our NAMI on Campus provided excellent resources and creative activities as well - what an amazing way to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

Our NAMI Connecticut Young Adult Connection Community incorporates activities, goal planning, and supportive discussion in all of our groups. For Middletown’s group activity last night, participants picked feeling words to describe their week. Each person drew said feeling and other group members guessed which word they picked. Happy Pride! Members from gathered together today to share resources and support for Middletown's first annual Pride Event.
Let's continue to spread that message of hope and love: You are NOT alone!
If you live with a mental health condition and identify as le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, (LGBTQIA+) it’s important to prioritize your mental health. Not all members of the LGBTQ+ community will have the same experiences. However, discrimination, prejudice, denial of civil and human rights, harassment and family rejection are still tragically common for people with these identities. We all need to do better to support this community; our NAMI Connecticut Young Adult Connection Community welcomes you and supports you, regardless of your identity!
