Reflection 2026/2027 is underway! You can begin working on your dance, photo, art or lit piece. The 2026/2027 Theme is "What My Culture Means to Me."


HERE’S HOW REFLECTIONS WORKS
Students, like you, make projects that are inspired by a theme. This year’s theme is ”What My Culture Means to Me.” You can make a project in as many of the categories as you want to. (It’s free to enter!) This is a national competition. We will judge all entries from Berkley Schools. We choose up to four winners in each age range and category. Then we send those winners on to be judged at the state level. Top winners at the state level go on to national judging. Your enty is due by mid-November.

We cannot wait to see your submission!

State Reflections Students:

Thank you for participating in this year's Michigan PTA Reflections Contest.
We enjoyed seeing your entry and reading your thoughtful artist statement on the theme "I Belong".

Over 500 entries competed at states this year. With so many excellent entries, the judges did not have an easy job.

Calling all Berkley Schools Artists, Writers, Dancers and Photographers!

Reflections (a National Art Contest) is now happening. Entries due by November 10th.

Reflections General Rules:
🖍 Each entry is the work of only one student.
🖍 Dance Choreography entries can have performers other than the entering student but the choreographer person is the student entering the contest.
🖍 Do not write the student's name on the front of any entries.
🖍 Only 1 entry per category per student is accepted at the state level.
🖍 All entries must be original and inspired by this year's theme "I Belong."
🖍 Use of copyrighted material is prohibited. Plagiarized entries will be disqualified.

There are 5 Age Groups/Divisions:
🎨 Primary Age Group (Pre-K to Grade 2)
🎨 Intermediate Age Group (Grade 3 to Grade 5)
🎨 Middle Age Group (Grade 6 to Grade 😎

Come support our educators! Berkley staff and community will be north of 12 mile on both the north and south sides. If you can’t attend, consider driving by and offering a honk and a wave showing your support.

We have 2 open Committee Chair roles upcoming for the 2025/26-2026/27 school year for our Council.

DEI and Reflections are both open for any current PTA member in the district.

DEI Chair coordinates with all the school’s DEI chairs to create inclusive events and opportunities for our community.

Reflections Chair coordinates and oversees the entire district Reflections program. They organize the deadline for all entries, coordinates the judging and advancement to state level, along with planning a recognition ceremony for all participants.

Reflections Update!

Congratulations to Peyton Peasley the 2024/2025 State Reflections Middle School winner in the Dance Choreography Category.

Samantha Ribits was recognized with an Award of Excellence by the State in the Intermediate, Visual Arts Category.

Both artists will be recognized on Saturday, April 12 in the morning at the DoubleTree by Hilton Detroit-Dearborn.
