Yesterday, Congress passed the FY26 federal budget including key funding wins for critical breast cancer research and safety net programs.

For over a year, Susan G. Komen Advocacy has been strong and unified in defending lifesaving programs from devastating cuts. In a huge victory for the breast cancer community, Congress not only rejected proposed cuts but increased funding for these programs.

Sunflower’s Hospitality instructors remain closely aligned with real-world employer needs to provide meaningful opportunities for students.

When leaders at shared a need for additional staff to support events and banquets, Sunflower identified an opportunity to meet workforce demand while advancing our mission.

🍽️ In response, Sunflower is piloting a new initiative with interested Hospitality students, providing hands-on experience in event and banquet support.

Students gain exposure to fast-paced hospitality settings while building essential skills such as:

👫 teamwork
🫡 professionalism
⏰ time management
💙 and customer service.

This pilot marks an important step toward deeper industry partnerships.

Looking ahead, Sunflower aims to expand this model to create additional training and employment pathways that prepare graduates for meaningful work while supporting community workforce needs.
