Bellport Garden Club

The Bellport Garden Club recently held their annual President's Tea at the Christ Episcopal Church Hall in Bellport. It is the tradition of the club to invite our annual scholarship winners (from Bellport High School) to this event and introduce them to the members. The recipients of the three $1,000 scholarships for 2026 were: Emma Davies (University of Rhode Island), Leena Elbaroudy (Stony Brook University) and Orion Beadle (University of Oklahoma) pictured with Kathy Desmond, Scholarship Chair. (Orion Beadle is not in the photo).

Past scholarship recipient, Chiara Scharpf (2019), was also in attendance and spoke of her career as a sustainability analyst focused on energy. All 2026 awardees are exploring environmental fields and we wish them much success in their future endeavors.

Helping out at the Tea were two Bellport students, Rowan and Anna Schultz (pictured below) who also water all the window boxes in Bellport Village to keep them beautiful and fresh throughout the summer season. A big thank you to them!

Today (as every year) the Bellport Garden Club participated in the “Artists on the Lane” July 4th event by making and selling bouquets with flowers donated from the members’ gardens. All proceeds go to their “Tree Fund” from which they purchase trees to be planted in Bellport Village.

In conjunction with the July 4th "Artists on the Lane" event, the Bellport Garden Club will be selling floral bouquets from 9am to 3pm in front of the Post Crowell House at 31 Bellport Lane. Most of the flowers are from members' gardens. All proceeds will go to our Tree Fund. (Photos below are from past years.)

The Bellport Garden Club has once again done a magnificent job in decorating the shopkeepers' window boxes in Bellport Village! The luscious and lovely floral plantings do much to enhance the beauty of our downtown area. (Check out the photos below.)

The club provides the flowers, soil and other plant material at their own expense, and also pay to have the boxes watered twice a week during the summer season.

If you wish to contribute to this project, you may do so by sending a check to them at Box 203, Bellport, NY 11713. (Kindly indicate "window boxes" on your check.)

We are delighted to report that our garden tour, "Into the Woods", which was held last Saturday, June 13th, was a huge success! We would like to thank the many supporters who came and enjoyed meandering through the five very unique gardens.
