Today companies experienced a very active hour.

First, companies were dispatched for a reported motor vehicle rollover with entrapment. Parties were transported to local hospitals.

While companies were clearing the motor vehicle accident, another medical was dispatched. All Sudbury ambulances were busy transporting patients from the motor vehicle accident. Fortunately, an ambulance from Wayland was available.

This medical required transport via medical helicopter. A landing zone was established at Haskell Field and Boston Medflight landed to assume patient care.

During that medical, companies were dispatched for a gas line that was struck during construction and actively leaking.

Thank you to Sudbury Police Association, Wayland Firefighters, Local 1978 , and Boston MedFlight for allowing all of these situations to have the best possible outcomes.

For the past week, our hearts have been with our colleagues at REACH Air Medical Services following the crash of one of their helicopters last Wednesday, which resulted in the loss of two skilled and cherished members of their team and the patient they were transporting. We are thinking of their families, friends and colleagues, as well as the crew member who was seriously injured, and wishing them continued strength and recovery.

We are also holding close our Canadian colleagues at Latitude Air Ambulance and the families of the four crew and two passengers lost in this weekend’s crash off Nantucket.

While there is no single right way or right time to show support in moments like these, for us, standing with REACH — or with any member of our community facing a tragedy like this — is about so much more than a photo or public gesture. It’s about the connection, care and support that begins behind the scenes from the moment we hear the news. When one of us is hurting, our whole community feels it.

To the entire REACH team, your colleagues at Boston MedFlight are thinking of you, grieving with you and standing beside you.

As a nonprofit organization, we rely on donor support to help ensure our teams have the training, technology, and resources they need to provide the highest level of critical care transport across New England — whenever and wherever patients need us.
