When Chocoflan arrived to us from Los Angeles after being found stray in a park in Compton, we thought he might be one of the cutest mixes around...and we were not wrong!
With his beautiful coat coloring, soulful eyes and lovable personality this guy is hard to beat!

We noticed pretty quickly that Chocoflan had some issues with potty and it was soon discovered after an appointment with a neurologist, Chocoflan had something called "pulled tail syndrome". Basically his tail was pulled so hard at one point that it damaged the nerves that let him know he needs to potty.

He is not in any pain, although we are sure it was a horribly painful injury when it happened. He can run and play and do everything a normal dog can do, but he will most likely always have potty issues. What this means is that although he can still go potty normally, he also has frequent accidents. This is easily managed by wearing a belly band and giving him frequent access to a fenced in backyard.

We promise you he is still worth it and we know there are adopters that love a special needs dog....you would be hard pressed to find a better boy than Chocoflan! If you would like to learn more about him and the adoption process please reach out or go to our website.

1 yr old Avaric came to us from Pug Nation Los Angeles. he was originally found stray completely emaciated from starvation. Pug Nation did the work of getting him healthy and now you would never know. He is very healthy and active and still very loving to people.

Avaric is very active, so a couch potato home will not be a good fit. He would be a great hiking companion or an agility dog. He is tall and thin and has a very athletic build to him. He loves playing with other dogs, but seems to gravitate to medium to large dogs.

Avaric is smart and learns quickly. He is still a puppy in many ways, but especially with his chewing. This guy loves to chew and if he gets bored he may chew things he should not, so that is why an active home will be best. He also is still perfecting his potty training skills.

He is very well mannered in public and loves meeting new people and dogs. He is good on leash and enjoys riding in the car as long as he is not in a crate...that is not his favorite thing. Even though he has lots of energy, he also loves to be cuddled and held like a baby. He is an all around great boy that just needs a little fine tuning.

DNA testing shows that Gracie is 50% pug 50% chihuahua exactly! She has the best traits of both breeds - goofy, affectionate, playful, determined, and loyal. Gracie loves going for car rides and is most confident being outdoors on long neighborhood sniff-aris.

Gracie is quickly learning to trust new friendly faces and canine companions. Once she feels comfortable, she becomes playful, affectionate, and downright bouncy when it comes to playtime. She loves running around with other dogs similar to her in size - (big dogs can be a little intimidating!) She does like to shove and nip during playtime, so we can't recommend her for small children, but she would be fine with older kids who have dog experience.

Around the house she is content to nap in a cozy pile of blankets when she isn't following you around. At night she is happiest curled up close to her favorite person as long as it isn't too hot. She is house trained and will let you know it's time to go with soft cries or a sharp bark if you aren't paying attention. When left alone she will sulk and miss you dearly, but won't be destructive. She can be a little bossy if she gets bored.

Gracie is looking for her next adventure after losing her previous owner. Could her forever home be with you?

We have an update on the pug from Mexico we showed you earlier in the week.
She was quite ill when they found her, but we agreed to take her and had them get her to a local vet in Mexico right away. She was having complications from the tick disease anaplasmosis and was very weak with a low red blood cell count. They got her stabilized and then she got here with START Animal Rescue

She saw our vet yesterday and got everything rechecked. Her blood count has improved quite a bit and our vet thinks she might be under a year-old. She’s feeling much better and very s***ky. She needs to gain weight but she has a big appetite so that shouldn’t be hard!

You can help us continue to save more pugs like Ella by bidding in our auction. There are so many great items and some still don’t have bids!
