Western PA Bleeding Disorders Foundation

Western PA Bleeding Disorders Foundation Welcome! Learn more, visit: http://www.wpbdf.org WPBDF serves families with bleeding disorders in 26 counties of Western Pennsylvania.

WPBDF strives to enrich the lives of those with bleeding disorders in Western Pennsylvania and respond to the needs of the community in a dynamic environment. Membership is free for people with bleeding disorders as well as their family members and friends. We provide patient assistance to our members with bleeding disorders as well as hold a variety of educational events that cover a wide range o

f topics. Because bleeding disorders impact nearly every area of our members lives, we strive to provide relevant and timely information about everything from raising affected children to dealing with financial stress to joint health and treatment concerns and much more. In addition to large, chapter-wide events, we have several small support groups that meet throughout the year such as the men’s group, women’s group, and a First Steps program that specifically addresses concerns of parents of children under the age of 8. Our office is located in Beaver, PA. We are a completely separate organization from the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania but work very closely with them in making sure that our members are well supported.

Did you know your support of the helps provide educational opportunities year-round, including our Education Weekend?

In 2022, Education Weekend was Tamara’s first time attending a Foundation event. For her, it was more than an educational conference, it was the first time she truly felt she had a safe space to share her story.

The happy moments. The difficult moments. The everyday realities of living with a bleeding disorder. For the first time, she realized she wasn't alone.

Every step taken and every dollar raised at the Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk helps create moments like these.

Help us continue making these moments possible. Donate today at: https://bit.ly/wpbdf-unite

Social media is a great way to spread awareness, but it's easy for posts to get lost in a busy newsfeed. If some of your friends, family members, or teammates haven't donated yet, try reaching out in a more personal way. Try sending a text, making a phone call, or sending a direct message.

A personal ask lets people know why this cause matters to you, and it often has a much bigger impact than a social media post alone.

This weekend, we challenge you to reach out to 5 people personally and ask them to support your Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk fundraiser. Whether they donate $10 or $100, every gift helps provide education, resources, and support for individuals and families affected by bleeding disorders.

You might be surprised by how many people are happy to support your team—you just have to ask.

At the Run for Their Lives 5k, your miles are making a lasting impact on the bleeding disorders community of Western PA. You’re empowering parents, children, and teens to learn about their bleeding disorders, build a supportive community, and advocate for themselves at doctor appointments and legislatively.

So far, we’ve got 57 runners making their miles count. Will you help us get to 100 runners?

Last night, WPBDF attended Red Out Night at EQT Park! While the Washington Wild Things took on the Gateway Grizzlies, WPBDF staff and volunteers were at our booth spreading awareness about bleeding disorders.

A big thank you to Diane Standish, Sandy F., Kimmy W., Adam B., Gus B., and Joseph E. for volunteering at our booth and helping make the night a success!

Fans were encouraged to wear red to help raise awareness for heart health and bleeding disorders. We’re grateful to the Washington Wild Things for shining a light on WPBDF and other important charities throughout Western PA. We were honored to be part of such an incredible event!

To top off the night, the playoff-bound Wild Things took home a 7-0 victory over the Grizzlies!

Finally, thank you to everyone who came out to cheer on our local team and stopped by the booth to visit, say hello, or learn more about bleeding disorders. We wish the Wild Things the best of luck on their playoff journey!
