πŸ’œπŸ©Ά BEHIND EVERY NUMBER IS SOMEONE LOVED. πŸ©ΆπŸ’œ

TODAY is International Overdose Awareness Day.

Today, Peer 360 Recovery Alliance – invites our community to come together for an evening of remembrance, hope, education, recovery, and connection.

Every number represents a person. Someone’s child. Someone’s parent. Someone’s sibling, friend, neighbor, or loved one.

Today, we remember those we’ve lost. We honor their lives. We stand beside the people who miss them. We support those who are still here. And we continue working together to prevent overdose and reduce the stigma surrounding substance use disorder and recovery in our communities. πŸ’œ

πŸ“… TODAY – Monday, August 31
⏰ 4:00–7:00 PM
πŸ“ Chippewa Landing Park – Caro

Throughout the evening:

β€’ πŸ’‰ Narcan Training – Learn how to recognize and respond to an overdose, get trained to use Narcan, and receive a box of Narcan to take with you.

β€’ 🀝 Special All Recovery-Style Meeting – A safe, welcoming space where people can openly share about a loved one they’ve lost, their own experiences, and how overdose and addiction have impacted their lives.

β€’ πŸ’œ Peer Recovery Support – Connect with Peer Recovery Coaches and others who understand.

β€’ πŸ“š Community Resources & Information – Learn about resources and support available right here in our community.

β€’ πŸ•―οΈ β€œSay Their Name” Ceremony – We’ll say the names of those we’ve lost and light a candle in their memory. Once all the candles are lit, we’ll share a moment of silence together in remembrance.

β€’ πŸ›Ά Messages to Those We Miss – Memorial Boat Release – Write a personal message to someone you miss, fold it into a paper boat, and release your message down the river with us. Water-soluble, environmentally friendly paper will be used. πŸ’œ

β€’ 🌱 Recovery Lives Here – Celebrate recovery! Share how long you’ve been in recovery, how long you’ve supported someone in recovery, or how long you’ve been an ally and supporter of recovery.

β€’ πŸ—£οΈ β€œWhat I Wish People Understood…” – Help us challenge stigma by sharing what you wish others understood about living with substance use disorder, loving someone with SUD, being in recovery, or losing someone to overdose.

β€’ πŸ•πŸ₯€ Pizza & Pop – Available while supplies last!

Michigan is seeing encouraging progress in reducing overdose deaths, and that progress deserves to be recognized. But our work isn’t finished. One life lost is still one too many.

Whether you’ve lost someone to overdose, love someone who is struggling, are in recovery yourself, support someone in recovery, or simply want to stand with others in our community β€” you are welcome. πŸ’œ

Come remember. Come honor. Come learn. Come share. Come stand with us.

πŸ’œ BEHIND EVERY NUMBER IS SOMEONE LOVED. πŸ’œ

In our rural communities, we know our neighbors. We know their families. We see each other at the grocery store, at the ballfield, at church, on back roads and across farm fields. And when we lose someone to overdose, that loss reaches far beyond a number on a pageβ€”it leaves an empty chair, a grieving family, and a community that remembers. πŸ•―οΈ

This International Overdose Awareness Day, Peer 360 Recovery Alliance invites those communities to come together to remember the lives behind the numbers, support those still fighting, and remind one another that hope and recovery live here, too. πŸ’œ

πŸ’œ FREE event for the entire community!
