BREC Conservation

BREC Conservation Did you know there are 24 BREC parks with conservation areas? Get outside and check one out today! That is a whopping 2,027 acres! What does conservation mean?

In response to public surveys, BREC has been working hard to preserve local natural areas. Currently, BREC has 7 parks that are designated strictly as Conservation Areas which are set aside for residents to enjoy respectfully. In addition to these, BREC has 17 other parks with natural areas set aside for conservation. It means that BREC has committed to protect these areas for their asthetic and e

cological value only to be used respectfully in order to protect their resources. This is important so that as East Baton Rouge Parish is developed and communities grow, residents still have beautiful natural areas to enjoy which act as sanctuaries for local wildlife populations. Go visit a Conservation Area today or sign up for one of our programs that lguide you in exploring these areas while learning something about nature!
