Since 1992, Capital Area CASA has served more than 4,000 children in foster care, helping ensure their voices are heard and their best interests are represented.

But there are more stories still being written.

The next 4,000 children need advocates too. They need people who will show up, listen, speak up, and stand beside them as they navigate the foster care system.

Congratulations to our Marketing & Outreach Manager, Shea Smith Breaux, on being selected for the Baton Rouge Area Foundation’s 2026 Nonprofit Board Fellows cohort! We’re excited to see Shea grow her leadership skills, build connections, and bring what she learns back to Capital Area CASA and our community.

The Foundation is pleased to welcome the members of its 2026 Nonprofit Board Fellows cohort!

Selected from a competitive pool of applicants, 28 fellows will participate in a tuition-free, seven-session program designed for civic-minded individuals who are new to or preparing for nonprofit board and committee service.

Throughout the program, fellows will gain the knowledge, skills and connections needed to serve as thoughtful, engaged board members. We look forward to supporting this year’s cohort as they grow and prepare to strengthen the organizations and communities they serve.

Boys in foster care need positive male role models—and you can make a lasting difference.

Capital Area CASA is looking for men who are willing to step up and be a voice for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. As a CASA volunteer, you'll advocate for a child's best interests and help ensure they have the support they need during a difficult time.

You don't need special experience—just a willingness to listen, care, and show up. Sometimes, one consistent adult can change the course of a child's life.

Our next Pre-Service Training starts on August 25th. 💙
