Who says every organization has just one boss? At Capital Area CASA, we’re celebrating the incredible people who help lead, guide, and shape our mission!

Our Board of Directors does so much more than attend meetings. They provide leadership, ask the tough questions, open doors in our community, support our staff, and help ensure CASA has the resources and direction needed to advocate for children who have experienced abuse and neglect.

Their leadership helps make it possible for our CASA volunteers to stand beside children in foster care, speak up for their best interests, and help change their stories for the better. ❤️

Today, we’re giving a big shout-out to our board members for investing their time, talents, connections, and hearts in CASA. We’re grateful to have such an amazing team of leaders in our corner!

Thank you to our friends at the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society for supporting hunger relief for foster children in East Baton Rouge Parish! 💙

One of the unseen struggles that many foster children and families face is food insecurity. Grandparents and other relatives who step in to care for children who have experienced abuse or neglect often do so with limited resources, while young adults aging out of foster care must navigate independent living without always having reliable access to food. This support will help ease that burden and ensure our kiddos have access to the nourishment they need.

Thank you for helping us nourish our most vulnerable children and build a stronger community together!

So proud to have a CASA staff member included in this amazing cohort!

We are proud to celebrate the graduation of BRAF’s 2026 Nonprofit Board Fellows cohort. Over seven engaging sessions, 28 fellows built valuable knowledge, skills, and connections to serve as impactful, dedicated nonprofit board and committee members.

Watching these dedicated individuals learn and grow has been truly inspiring. We look forward to the positive impact this cohort will continue to have on organizations across our community.

Is your company looking to give back this holiday season?

Each year, CASA hosts a Holiday Open House where our volunteers can select 4–5 Christmas gifts for each foster child they serve. The gifts are wrapped while volunteers enjoy dinner and drinks on us. Community businesses can help make that possible by donating new, age-appropriate gifts!

We’ll provide a list of suggested items and an Amazon Wish List, and we can even pick up your donations. It’s an easy way for your team to make the holidays a little brighter for children in foster care. ❤️

Congratulations to Capital Area CASA’s Marketing & Outreach Manager, Shea Smith Breaux, on graduating from Baton Rouge Area Foundation's Nonprofit Board Fellows class through their Center for Nonprofit Excellence! 🎓

This seven-week program equipped local nonprofit professionals with valuable training in governance, leadership and effective board service. We’re excited to see Shea bring that knowledge back to CASA as we continue working alongside our Board to strengthen our organization and advocate for children in foster care.

We’re proud to see Shea growing her leadership skills and bringing new knowledge to our work at CASA!
