Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches

Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches ASYR is 100% privately funded and a 100% free service to children in crisis. The Ranch is a transformative family-style foster care program.

Founded by the sheriffs of Arkansas in 1976, Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches has provided hope, healing, and a home to thousands of children from every corner of the state. Since 1976, Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches has provided more than 2,300 children with a place to call home. Many children come to the Ranch with a history of maltreatment or lack nurturing family relationships. We provide a

healthy, emotionally-supportive home environment. At the Ranch, we help children feel safe and trust others. Children at the Ranch learn to cope with emotions while learning responsibility, gaining life skills, building healthy boundaries, and improving self-confidence. At the Ranch, caring staff provide children with support and stability. Ranch staff help children believe in themselves and teach them to live healthy, fulfilling lives. This commitment extends from our board of trustees to dedicated houseparents. There is no “up and out” policy at the Ranch. Residents may stay at the Ranch for as long as they need a home, up to age 21. Ranchers may continue through post-secondary education and/or obtain stable employment. At the Ranch, outdoor adventures are more than just fun activities — they’re opportunities for children to heal, grow, and simply enjoy being kids. Whether they’re fishing at the pond, hiking trails, camping under the stars, or canoeing on the water, our Ranchers are learning confidence, teamwork, patience, and a love for the outdoors.
Nature has a special way of bringing peace, rest, and joy, especially for children who have experienced difficult circumstances. These moments outside give our Ranchers space to breathe, explore, laugh, and create memories that will stay with them for years to come. 💙💚
Because of generous supporters like you, our children are able to experience the beauty of Arkansas while building skills and discovering new passions along the way.

🏡💙 A dream became a reality on Saturday as Raney Hall was officially dedicated and opened at the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches!
Made possible through the extraordinary generosity of Phillip and Verna Raney of Ozark, this beautiful new home will provide a safe, loving environment for up to eight children at a time. Here, children will have the opportunity to grow, learn, play, heal, and thrive while surrounded by caring adults who support them every step of the way.
Raney Hall represents more than just a new building—it represents hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for Arkansas children in need. This new home expands the Ranch’s capacity to serve and support some of the most vulnerable children in our state for years to come.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Raney family for their incredible generosity, as well as the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Arkansas sheriffs, board members, staff, supporters, and community friends who joined us to celebrate this special milestone. 🐰🐷🐐 🐮Fair week was a big success for several of our Ranchers!
Last week, our children proudly represented the Ranch at the Independence County Fair, showing rabbits, pigs, goats, and cows and bringing home an impressive collection of ribbons and banners. 🏅
These awards represent much more than success in the show ring. They reflect months of hard work, responsibility, patience, and dedication. From daily feeding and grooming to learning animal care and showmanship skills, our Ranchers have invested countless hours preparing for this moment.
We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and grateful for the staff members who encourage, mentor, and work alongside them every step of the way. Together, they're building confidence, character, and skills that will last a lifetime. 💙💚
