As Community Action Month comes to a close, I have spent time reflecting on how grateful I am to be part of such meaningful work and such an incredible network of leaders across Arkansas.

This month, I had the opportunity to attend the 51st Annual Arkansas Community Action Agencies Association (ACAAA) Conference in Jonesboro, AR. As Executive Director of NADC, it is truly my pleasure to serve as a board member for ACAAA alongside an amazing group of Community Action Agency Executive Directors from across the state. The conference provided a wonderful opportunity to learn, collaborate, and reconnect with longtime friends and colleagues.

On June 1, I will celebrate 40 years as an employee of NADC. Throughout those years, I have had the privilege of learning from the outstanding Executive Directors who came before me, as well as countless program directors, accounting staff, frontline workers, support staff, board members, and community partners. Each has played a role in shaping my understanding of Community Action and strengthening my commitment to serving others.

Over the past 40 years, Community Action Agencies have administered many different programs and adapted to changing needs, but one thing has never changed: our belief that people deserve opportunities to improve their lives and strengthen their families. No matter the agency, the program, or the community, we share the same purpose and goals—"People Helping People, Changing Lives."

I am especially honored to serve as the first female Executive Director in NADC's long history and only the 5th Executive Director of this organization. As I reflect on this milestone, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities, mentors, colleagues, and friendships that have made this journey so rewarding.

I also want to thank the NADC Administrative Team. Their commitment never wavers from our vision and mission of helping those in the communities we serve. Their dedication, leadership, and passion are reflected every day in the work they do, and I am thankful to serve alongside them.

A special thank you to ACAAA Executive Director Tomekia Moore for organizing and leading another successful and inspiring conference. Community Action is more than a network of agencies—it is a community of people dedicated to making a difference, and I am proud to have been part of that community for the past 40 years.

— Staci Albert
