Meet Mark of Warehouse 55

For Mark Allen, owner of Warehouse 55, vintage is about more than finding something old, it’s about discovering pieces with character, history, and a story to tell.

Warehouse 55 began seven years ago in Aurora and has continued to grow ever since. Five years ago, Mark expanded the business with a Chicago location, and in October 2025, Warehouse 55 found a new home in Downtown Batavia. The move brought the shop into a charming industrial space at 160 First Street, filled with vintage finds, repurposed furnishings, unique accessories, and plenty of unexpected treasures.

At the heart of Warehouse 55 is a community of hand-selected vendors, bringing together collectors and curators with an ever-changing mix of vintage finds, repurposed furnishings, décor, and one-of-a-kind accessories. From mid-century modern and rustic farmhouse to cottage chic and contemporary pieces, there’s always something new to discover. And while the in-store treasure hunt is part of the fun, Warehouse 55 also offers an online shop and ships finds across the country.

But if you ask Mark about his favorite time of year at Warehouse 55, there’s an easy answer: the holidays. Each year, the store transforms into a winter wonderland filled with vintage holiday décor. With an extensive collection of nostalgic Christmas pieces and seasonal treasures, it’s become one of the things Warehouse 55 is best known for, and a favorite tradition for shoppers and vendors alike.

Outside of the business, Mark and his husband are dads to two daughters. As Warehouse 55 approaches its first anniversary in Downtown Batavia, Mark is excited to continue growing the shop, supporting its community of vendors, and giving shoppers a place where there is always something new, or wonderfully old, to discover.
