The Moore Foundation

The Moore Foundation The Moore Foundation is a Private Operating foundation, and it is registered as a section 501(c) 3, helping cats in need in Illinois.

Founded in 1999, The Moore Foundation gives hope to cats diagnosed with feline leukemia by providing them with lifelong care, compassion and love. We have between 15-20 cats at all times who are our permanent residents and often unadoptable because of their felv diagnosis. They receive excellent veterinary care, daily supplements, medication, and most importantly LOVE. We are also involved in many

other aspects of rescue including fostering, providing veterinary care to other cats in need and helping with several colonies by providing food & shelter. In addition, the Moore Foundation supports rehoming efforts, occasionally participates in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) programs, and works to place friendly cats into safe, forever homes.

So much has been going on recently and the time to post isn’t always available. We’ve been busy helping an elderly lady with trapping a pregnant mama and her two kiddos from the first litter - and their dad. All got into surgery this past Tuesday. Mama was so smart that she managed to grab one of her boys by the neck and drag him out while he was half way in the trap. That meant she wouldn’t go into a regular trap, so we had to use a drop trap. (Fun fun :)) it worked !
No more babies for this mama. The 4 month old boys will be staying temporarily at my friends house, to see if they can be adopted out. Hopefully they allow human interaction and won’t have to go back on the streets. 🐾🐾

Our brave and sweet Shadow has found her perfect forever home! 🩷🩷🩷
We are absolutely thrilled and so incredibly happy for our little girl! 🥹💕 She’ll be the one and only spoiled princess in her new home — just the way she likes it, since she’s not particularly fond of other kitties. 👑🐾
But can it get any better than that?
Oh, yes, it can!
Her new mama absolutely adores her, and the two of them are already bonding beautifully and bringing so much happiness into each other’s lives. ❤️
After everything our brave little warrior has been through, this is the happily-ever-after we dreamed of for her. Shadow, you are home. 🩷🏡✨

We have some good news about our little "jar" kitty that we trapped just over a week ago and rushed to the ER. 🐾🫙
She's a girl, and we decided to name her Miracle—or Miri for short. 💜
Our sweet girl is still recovering, but we're so happy to share that all of the maggots, fleas, and ticks are all gone. A huge thank you to Auntie Nancy, our amazing vet tech, who lovingly cared for Miri's wounds and shaved the damaged fur around her neck so everything could heal properly.
The biggest surprise? Miri isn't feral at all—just incredibly shy. She let me hold and gently brush her, and before long she was rewarding me with the sweetest purrs.
But that's not all...!!! 😍
A few days later I returned to the same area and managed to trap her brother! We named him Peanuts, and he's already been neutered ,vaccinated and dewormed.
When we reunited them, there was no doubt they belonged together. They immediately recognized each other, spent the entire night playing, wrestling, and cuddling.
I'm now working on earning Peanuts' trust. He is more hissy and scared but hopefully with some patience, love, and lots of gentle encouragement, they'll both grow confident with each passing day.

How excited are we?! After two long months of vet visits, treatments, surgery, and recovery, Shadow is finally ready to find her forever home.🩵
This petite cutie is around a year old, fully vetted—spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped—and as healthy as can be. She is incredibly loving, affectionate, and absolutely adorable. Shadow enjoys playing with her toys, snuggling in bed with her human, and watching the world from her favorite cat tree.
As much as she loves people, Shadow needs to be the only cat in the home, as she doesn't enjoy the company of other cats.
If you think you could give this special girl the loving forever home she deserves, we'd love to hear from you. Please reach out for more information about adopting Shadow. 🩷🌸🐾

Guess who had her spay surgery yesterday? 😍
Our girl Shadow finally got the green light after her latest blood tests came back with excellent results!
This is a huge milestone and means she'll soon be available for adoption. 🩷🩵
While she was at the vet, a small lump was also addressed. Thankfully, it turned out to be just a hernia and nothing more.
So many milestones for our little fighter! 🐈‍⬛🌸

It never ends...
What was supposed to be a relaxing Saturday night quickly turned into an SOS mission.
The caretaker of a colony we help with called to let us know there was a kitten with a plastic jar stuck on her head 🥺The poor thing kept running away whenever she saw people, but after several hours she finally went into one of the shelters. We came up with a plan, quietly approached, blocked the exit, and safely transferred her into a trap.
I immediately rushed this sweet girl to the ER, where the amazing doctors had to use special „cutters” to cut through the plastic. We don't know how long the jar had been stuck on her head, but it was long enough for maggots to be present, along with fleas, ticks, and a terrible smell.
Thankfully, aside from that, she seemed alert and in good spirits—and we're sure incredibly relieved.
She then went straight to Auntie Nancy, our wonderful vet tech. "Miracle" (that's what we're calling her for now) received medication to get rid of all the pests and got cleaned up. She's doing well and, surprisingly, isn't feral at all—just a little shy. We'll be looking for a loving foster home for her.
We're so grateful we were able to get that jar off, especially today being a very hot day, it would have been so dangerous for her. Today, Miracle got a second chance. ❤️

If you have few dollars to spare, it will go towards this girls vetting. She will see a vet this week to make sure there’s no more issues and once she’s strong enough, she’ll be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Click donate on our page or you can also donate through PayPal : [email protected]
Thank you 🙏🏼

Our little girl had another follow up appointment and of course she stole everyone’s hearts at the clinic!
Dr. Williams was so happy with her improvement. When Shadow came in the first and second time (before the polyps were removed) she was so scared and had to be sedated a little for a blood draw, but that’s because she was having so much trouble breathing and was likely feeling like she’ll suffocate at any moment. This time around she was purring away, kneading on her blankie and giving kisses to the staff 🩷🥲
Please consider making a small donation to cover Shadow’s medical bills. You can donate on our Zeffy fundraiser that’s free of fees or by clicking the donate button on our page,-or through Paypal: [email protected]

Friends,

We're reaching out to ask for your help with one of our most recent critical care rescues—Shadow. ❤️
This sweet girl is only about a year old and was found in such heartbreaking condition that euthanasia was almost her only option. Thankfully, she was given a chance to fight. After an emergency hospital stay, multiple veterinary visits, surgery, and weeks of dedicated care, Shadow has beaten the odds and is now on the road to recovery.

Her medical expenses have been significant, and we're hoping to raise funds to help cover the cost of the lifesaving care she received.
Please take a moment to read Shadow's incredible story on our Zeffy fundraiser, where 100% of your donation goes directly to our rescue because there are no platform fees.

If you prefer, you can also donate through our website:

As a small rescue, we care for more than 25 cats at any given time, and taking on critical cases like Shadow's places a financial strain on our organization. Every dollar donated- no matter the amount—is deeply appreciated and helps us continue saying "yes" to cats who have nowhere else to turn.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for helping us give cats like Shadow the second chance they deserve. We couldn't do this without you. 🐾❤️
