Coming up this weekend! 🎃

2026 Halloween Mystery Candlelight Hike from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Bring your friends and family to join the park staff and Friends of Mirror Lake for our Fall Mystery Candlelight Hike. Hike along the easy 1-mile torchlit trail and discover clues to help solve the mystery of who our special guest is, then meet them at the end. When you are not out on the trail, enjoy a warm drink and goodies around the roaring campfires. Meet at the Mirror Lake beach picnic area. This event is free to attend, but a vehicle admission sticker is required.

This event is weather-dependent.

Red Belly, Red Belly!

This northern red-bellied snake was warming up on the busy Fern Dell trail yesterday. With bikes coming up behind us, we moved the little guy out of the way. Red-bellies are native, non-venomous and grow anywhere from 4-10 inches long. (They can bite however) 🐍

Naturalist Programs This Weekend

Walk in the Woods
Saturday, October 10 | 10–11:30 a.m. | Visitor Center

Join the naturalist for a guided walk focused on Mirror Lake’s trees and why their leaves change color. Bring walking shoes, water, and your nature questions. This program is weather-dependent.

Seed Dumplings
Saturday, October 10 | 1–3 p.m. | Beach picnic area

Drop in to learn about Wisconsin’s native plants and make a seed dumpling to plant in your garden. Materials are provided.

Fun Fish Prints
Sunday, October 11 | 10 a.m.–noon | Beach picnic area

Use lifelike fish stamps and ink to make a print. Bring an old T-shirt or use the paper provided.

Explore Echo Rock
Sunday, October 11 | 1–2:30 p.m. | Lakeview trailhead at the beach, next to the boat rentals

Join the naturalist for a guided walk to Echo Rock and the Ishnala bridge, with stops to explore the area’s history and geology. The route is described as easy and partially paved.
