What does it mean to be affirmed? 🩺

It can be as simple as knowing you are welcome, being addressed in a way that feels right to you, and trusting that you will be listened to without having to explain or defend who you are. In healthcare, that feeling can make a meaningful difference. 🎗️

Affirming care recognizes, respects, and supports every part of a person’s identity. It creates spaces where people can feel safe being fully themselves. 💙

At Ulman, LGBTQIA+ young adults impacted by cancer can find connection, navigation, and community programs that make room for every part of who they are. And as we look ahead, we remain committed to helping build a future where affirming care is the standard, not the exception. 🏳️‍🌈

There is power in being able to walk into a room and know you do not have to explain, hide, or shrink any part of yourself.

Thank you, Michelle, for sharing what it has been like to navigate both coming out and your cancer experience as a young adult, and why affirming care and feeling fully seen matter so much. 💙

This October, Michelle is joining Team Ulman to hike Mount Kilimanjaro in support of young adults impacted by cancer. Be sure to check out her page, follow along, and support her fundraising efforts! 🏔️🎗️

Everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, supported, and understood. 🏳️‍🌈

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and the many ways people show up for one another through life’s hardest moments.

Our Pride Collection is now available, serving looks AND supporting LGBTQIA+ young adults impacted by cancer, with designs created to celebrate Pride all year long. Proceeds help support programs and services for young adults and their loved ones impacted by cancer.

Because everyone deserves support that meets them where they are. 🎗️

Picklefest is just around the corner, and today we wanted to give a special THANK "U" to our incredible sponsors and event partners! 💙

This event wouldn't be possible without your generosity, partnership, and belief in our mission. Because of your support, we're able to create a fun and engaging day of play while raising critical funds for young adults impacted by cancer in Baltimore and beyond.

The impact of your support reaches far beyond the pickleball court. It helps provide free patient navigation services, lodging through Ulman House, support programs, fertility preservation assistance, and resources that help young adults navigate the challenges of cancer.

Thank you for helping us create a community where no young adult faces cancer alone. 🎗️

It's not too late to join us on June 27 at Dill Dinkers in Cockeysville! Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Register today through the link in our bio and help us make a difference, one game at a time.

June 13th is Jamie Roberts Day. It’s a day to remember and celebrate a light that continues to guide so much of what we do here at Ulman.

Jamie’s story is one of love and courage. In 2014, her life was tragically cut short while she was cycling across the country with the 4K for Cancer program, a journey she joined to honor a friend’s family. Even in that decision, Jamie showed who she was at her core. She was someone who showed up for others, led with heart, and believed deeply in something bigger than herself.

Her legacy continues to live on in so many ways, including the Ulman House gym, which is dedicated in her name, a space that honors her strength, energy, and lasting impact on our community.

She was bold, fiercely kind, and fully alive in every room she entered. Her laugh was unforgettable, and her love for people (and a good hot dog) was unmatched.

Today, we remember Jamie by living a little more like she did. Today’s the day to dance to Britney Spears a little louder, call someone you’ve been thinking about, hop on a bike, grab a hot dog, and choose joy in the small moments, the kind of joy Jamie so naturally gave to everyone around her.

💙 We invite anyone to share a memory or story of Jamie in the comments as we honor her today.

One of the biggest misconceptions about cancer survivorship is that there’s a moment when everything goes back to normal.
After nearly 30 years of supporting young adults through their cancer journeys, we have learned that survivorship is often less about returning to who you were and more about discovering who you’re becoming.

That process can take years. It can be messy and confusing and frustrating — and it often requires people who understand the feelings and moments that are hardest to put into words.

Mike’s latest story reflects on that journey and the impact that finding the right community had on his search for purpose within himself. Thank you, Mike for continuing to share your journey with us.

Do you want to help more young adults find connection, purpose, and community after cancer? Donate today to help us reach our $10,000 fundraising goal by June 30 💙💛

Are you a young adult survivor looking for connection with people who get it? Send us a DM with the word SURVIVOR to get in touch with peers!
