What started as an idea became a movement 💙

We officially wrapped up the very first year of So Do We with an incredible Changemakers Celebration at Under Armour HQ, and wow… students, give yourself a HUGE round of applause!!

Through educational classes, volunteer opportunities, fundraising efforts, and the Changemakers Challenge, So Do We students showed what’s possible when passion meets purpose. These students stepped up as leaders, advocates, and changemakers for young adults impacted by cancer, and we could not be more proud of what this first year became.

Now it’s time to celebrate our 2025–26 award winners 👏

💛 Be Human Award
With over 550 hours of meaningful volunteer service, this award goes to Aliona Cires from Mount Hebron High School. .ulman.mhhs

📚 Be Better Award
With over 1,000 hours of educational programming completed, this award goes to Poolesville High School.

What happens when survivorship becomes something you feel like you have to hide?

In this continuation of Mike’s story, he reflects on entering college after cancer and the quiet tension of wanting to move forward while carrying an experience that shaped everything about him. Beneath the friendships, new beginnings, and “normal” college moments was an ongoing struggle with identity, isolation, and the fear of being known only as “the cancer kid.”

That’s why spaces for connection and community matter so deeply. Ulman Foundation exists to remind young adults impacted by cancer that they do not have to navigate survivorship alone. 💙

🧠 You may not know...

An estimated 13,474 new cases of primary brain tumors will be diagnosed in adolescent and young adult patients in 2026.

Here are a few realities of brain cancer that people don’t always talk about:

💛 Brain cancer can affect much more than physical health. Depending on the tumor location, someone may experience memory issues, personality changes, trouble concentrating, or shifts in mood. This can look like forgetting conversations, struggling to find words, or simply not feeling like themselves anymore.

💙 Many symptoms are invisible to others. Someone may “look fine” while navigating memory loss, headaches, sensory changes, or emotional exhaustion every single day.

💛 Independence can change quickly. Things like driving, cooking, working, or even walking alone may suddenly require extra support or supervision.

💙 Survivorship doesn’t mean life returns to normal once treatment ends. Fatigue, anxiety, cognitive changes and neurological effects can persist for years after finishing treatment.

But another reality is this: no one should have to navigate cancer alone.

Ulman Foundation and Keep Punching are here to provide patient navigation, support, resources, and community for young adults impacted by cancer. While life may change after diagnosis, our support doesn’t. We’re here for you and your loved ones through every stage of the journey. 💙
